  • Canucks' Conor Garland: Offers helper in loss

Garland notched an assist in Thursday's 5-1 loss to the Kings.

Garland snapped a three-game point drought with the helper on Quinn Hughes' lone tally for Vancouver. The 28-year-old Garland has struggled a bit on offense while filling a third-line role at even strength, and his power-play time has fluctuated slightly as well. Garland is at 31 points, 96 shots on net, 28 hits, 27 blocked shots and a minus-3 rating over 44 appearances. He's still on pace to reach the 50-point mark for just the second time in his career.

  • Canucks' Filip Hronek: Garners assist Thursday

Hronek posted an assist in Thursday's 5-1 loss to the Kings.

This was Hronek's second game back from a lower-body injury that required surgery. The 27-year-old defenseman hasn't exactly been eased back in, logging over 20 minutes in both contests since his return. He's now at 10 points, 25 shots on net, 40 hits, 23 blocked shots and a plus-12 rating through 23 appearances. At his best, Hronek provides category coverage while filling a top-pairing spot as well as a role on the second power-play unit.

  • Canucks' Quinn Hughes: Deposits lone goal in loss

Hughes scored a goal on three shots in Thursday's 5-1 loss to the Kings.

Hughes got the Canucks on the board at 14:52 of the second period, though the Kings answered with a goal just over a minute later. The defenseman continues to roll with two goals and four assists over six contests since he returned from an undisclosed injury. He's now at 10 goals, 48 points, 118 shots on net, 40 blocked shots, 25 PIM and a plus-13 rating over 40 appearances.

  • Canucks' Thatcher Demko: Falters early Thursday

Demko allowed five goals on 21 shots in Thursday's 5-1 loss to the Kings.

The Kings' top line was relentless over the first 10 minutes, and Demko never had much of a chance to recover. The Canucks have taken things cautiously, giving Demko just two starts over five games since he recovered from back spasms. The 29-year-old dropped to 2-3-3 with a 3.39 GAA and an .872 save percentage over nine contests. Demko has had trouble shaking off the rust from missing the first two months of the season due to a knee injury. The Canucks' next game is Saturday at home versus the Oilers.

  • Canucks' Noah Juulsen: Out Thursday

Juulsen (undisclosed) isn't in the lineup Thursday versus Los Angeles, according to Brendan Batchelor of Sportsnet 650.

Juulsen has no points, 21 PIM, 89 hits and 57 blocks in 32 outings with Vancouver this campaign. Vincent Desharnais is set to draw into the lineup because of Juulsen's absence. Desharnais is projected to serve on the third pairing alongside Carson Soucy.

  • Canucks' Noah Juulsen: Game-time call

Juulsen (undisclosed) is expected to be a game-time decision Thursday versus the Kings, per Ben Kuzma of Postmedia.

Juulsen has no points, 21 PIM, 89 hits and 57 blocks in 32 appearances in 2024-25. If he's not an option Thursday, then Vincent Desharnais will probably draw into the lineup.

  • Canucks' Thatcher Demko: In goal against Kings

Demko will get the starting nod at home versus Los Angeles on Thursday, Ben Kuzma of Postmedia reports.

Demko has struggled with injuries this season, limiting him to just eight appearances in which he posted a 2-2-3 record, 3.17 GAA and .883 save percentage. Still, the 29-year-old netminder should continue to see the bulk of the workload for Vancouver if he can stay healthy -- something he's struggled to do thus far.

  • Canucks' Max Sasson: Recalled by Canucks

Sasson was promoted from AHL Abbotsford on Thursday.

The Canucks sent Sasson to the minors Wednesday in what was a paper transaction. Sasson has two goals and six points in 19 games with Vancouver this season. He has been a healthy scratch in his last two games in the NHL and is likely to spend Thursday's tilt against the Kings in the press box.

  • Canucks' Jonathan Lekkerimaki: Recalled by Vancouver

Lekkerimaki was recalled from AHL Abbotsford on Thursday.

Lekkerimaki was sent to the minors Wednesday but will rejoin the NHL club a day later. He's made 10 appearances for the Canucks this year, logging two goals, an assist, six hits, three blocked shots, two PIM and a minus-5 rating while averaging 13:52 of ice time.

  • Canucks' Guillaume Brisebois: Called up from AHL Abbotsford

Brisebois was recalled from the minors Thursday.

Brisebois' demotion Wednesday was in fact a temporary cap-saving measure. Even with the blueliner back in the lineup, he is far from a lock to play in Thursday's matchup with the Kings and is more likely to serve as an emergency depth option alongside Vincent Desharnais.

  • Canucks' Max Sasson: Heads to AHL

Sasson was reassigned to AHL Abbotsford on Wednesday.

This might just be a paper transaction, and Sasson would be recalled ahead of Thursday's tilt against LA if it is. Then again, Sasson was a healthy scratch in each of the Canucks' past two games. He has two goals and six points in 19 outings with Vancouver in 2024-25.

  • Canucks' Jonathan Lekkerimaki: Sent down to minors

Lekkerimaki was reassigned to AHL Abbotsford on Wednesday.

Considering the Canucks also demoted Max Sasson and Guillaume Brisebois on Wednesday, these moves are almost certainly cap-saving measures. As such, don't be surprised to see Lekkerimaki back on the NHL roster ahead of Thursday's clash with the Kings.

  • Canucks' Guillaume Brisebois: Sent to AHL

Brisebois was assigned to AHL Abbotsford on Wednesday.

Brisebois spent over two weeks with the Canucks and appeared in three games. He didn't record any points but racked up four blocked shots and two hits while averaging 15:48 of ice time. The 27-year-old should see more consistent time in the lineup in the minors.

  • Canucks' Nils Hoglander: Nets lone goal in blowout loss

Hoglander scored a goal in Tuesday's 6-1 loss to the Jets.

Hoglander was able to break up Connor Hellebuyck's shutout bid at 9:16 of the third period. Despite that, Hoglander ranked last in ice time for the Canucks, playing just 9:58 in the blowout loss. The 24-year-old winger ended his 34-game goal drought, during which he had just five assists. Three of those helpers have come over his last eight contests, but it still doesn't look like he has much trust with head coach Rick Tocchet. Hoglander is at nine points, 39 shots on net, 42 hits, 24 PIM and a minus-1 rating through 40 appearances.

  • Canucks' Kevin Lankinen: Stands no chance against Jets

Lankinen gave up six goals on 33 shots in Tuesday's 6-1 loss to the Jets.

Lankinen followed up a shutout win over the Maple Leafs with a stinker of a result Tuesday. Kyle Connor put up a natural hat trick in the first period, and the Jets hardly let up in the contest as they ran away with the win. Lankinen has lost five of his last seven outings, though he's allowed more than two goals just twice in that span. He's 16-8-6 with a 2.63 GAA and a .903 save percentage over 30 games played, and he's likely to surpass his career highs of 37 appearances and 17 wins. It's likely Thatcher Demko will get a chance to start Thursday versus the Kings.

  • Canucks' Kevin Lankinen: Guarding goal in Winnipeg

Lankinen will be between the road pipes in Tuesday's road matchup versus the Jets, according to Ken Wiebe of The Winnipeg Free Press.

Lankinen earned his fourth shutout of the campaign Saturday in a 3-0 victory over Toronto. The 29-year-old has recorded one shutout in each of the first four months of the season. He's surrendered 10 goals on 94 shots through five appearances in January, going 2-1-2 during that stretch. Winnipeg ranks third in the NHL with 3.55 goals per game.

  • Canucks' Filip Hronek: Ready to rock

Hronek (lower body) will be activated from long-term injured reserve ahead of his return to the lineup against Winnipeg on Tuesday, per Dan Murphy of Sportsnet.

Hronek will skate on the top pairing and could see power-play time with the second unit after missing the last 21 games. He has generated one goal, eight assists, 24 shots on net, 21 blocked shots and 36 hits through 21 appearances this season. Hronek will replace Guillaume Brisebois in Tuesday's lineup.
