  • Blue Jackets' Damon Severson: Posts assist in win

Severson notched an assist and went plus-3 in Thursday's 4-1 win over the Sharks.

Severson has two helpers, nine shots on net and a plus-4 rating over his last four contests. He's worked his way back into a steady bottom-four role after being scratched a few times in recent weeks. For the season, the defenseman is at 19 points, 68 shots on net, 70 blocked shots and a plus-3 rating through 42 outings. The risk of being scratched again negates some fantasy value for Severson, who has at least been decent on offense when in the lineup.

  • Blue Jackets' Sean Kuraly: Records assist Thursday

Kuraly registered an assist, two shots on goal and two hits in Thursday's 4-1 win over the Sharks.

Kuraly set up a Kent Johnson tally in the first period. The helper was Kuraly's second point over the last four contests. The 31-year-old center remains in a bottom-six role, so consistent contributions on offense aren't to be expected. He has 11 points, 39 shots on net, 103 hits and an even plus-minus rating through 45 appearances.

  • Blue Jackets' Adam Fantilli: Extends point streak with goal

Fantilli scored a goal on two shots and blocked two shots in Thursday's 4-1 win over the Sharks.

Fantilli has yet to be kept off the scoresheet in January, racking up four goals and four assists during a seven-game point streak. His tally Thursday opened the scoring at 12:11 of the first period. Fantilli has 11 goals, 23 points, 89 shots on net, 63 hits, 33 blocked shots and a minus-6 rating through 45 appearances. He's on a similar pace to his rookie year, but he's trending upward while seeing top-line time during Sean Monahan's (wrist) absence.

  • Blue Jackets' Jake Christiansen: Inks two-year extension

Christiansen signed a two-year, $1.95 million contract extension with Columbus on Friday.

Christiansen has become a regular in the NHL for the first time in his career, as he has played in 45 games, one more than he had over his first three seasons. Christiansen has one goal, six assists, 11 PIM and 41 blocked shots this season. The extension will begin next season, as he signed a one-year, two-way contract in the offseason.

  • Blue Jackets' Kent Johnson: Two points including GWG

Johnson scored the game-winning goal and added an assist in Thursday's 4-1 victory over the Sharks.

An aggressive Sean Kuraly forecheck late in the first period led to a San Jose turnover, and Johnson was able to take advantage to score his 12th goal of the season and give Columbus a 2-0 lead. It's Johnson's first multi-point performance in over a month, and across his prior 14 contests, the 22-year-old had managed just two goals and six points. The young winger has been streaky all year -- he has five separate point streaks of three games or more in 2024-25, accounting for all of his production aside from Thursday's effort -- so he could be gearing up for another surge.

  • Blue Jackets' James van Riemsdyk: Lights lamp twice in win

Van Riemsdyk scored two goals in Thursday's 4-1 win over the Sharks.

The 35-year-old winger delivered his second multi-goal performance in January, tipping home a Damon Severson shot early in the second period before icing the game with an empty-netter late in the third. Van Riemsdyk has only eight goals and 17 points in 38 appearances on the season, but about half of his production (four goals, four assists) has come in the last seven games, as he's filled a top-six role while Sean Monahan (wrist), Yegor Chinakhov (upper body) and other Columbus forwards have been sidelined.

  • Blue Jackets' Elvis Merzlikins: Sharp in fourth straight win

Merzlikins made 18 saves in Thursday's 4-1 win over the Sharks.

The 30-year-old netminder took a shutout into the third period, but Tyler Toffoli was able to bang home the rebound on a Macklin Celebrini shot to spoil it. Merzlikins has won four straight starts for the surging Blue Jackets, and he has only one regulation loss over his last nine outings, going 7-1-1 with a 2.93 GAA and .898 save percentage during that span.

  • Blue Jackets' Elvis Merzlikins: Set to start Thursday

Merzlikins is expected to be in goal at home against the Sharks on Thursday, Mark Scheig of The Hockey Writers reports.

Merzlikins comes into Thursday's contest with some extra rest, having served as the backup to Jet Greaves and Daniil Tarasov against the Blues and Flyers, respectively. For his part, the 30-year-old Merzlikins is riding a three-game winning streak during which he posted a 2.92 GAA and .897 save percentage. Even with the extra time off, Merzlikins remains the No. 1 option in Columbus and should see plenty of work down the stretch.

  • Blue Jackets' Kevin Labanc: Covering injury absences

Labanc played in his fourth game in a row in Tuesday's 3-2 shootout win over the Flyers.

Labanc has gotten a chance to play with all of Yegor Chinakhov (upper body), Justin Danforth (lower body) and Sean Monahan (wrist) out of action. The Blue Jackets initially tried to cover the absences by dressing seven defensemen, but Labanc has drawn back in on the fourth line. He's in a six-game point drought and has a modest 12 points with 32 shots on net, 28 hits and a plus-2 rating over 31 appearances this season.

  • Blue Jackets' Adam Fantilli: Point streak at six games

Fantilli registered an assist and two shots on goal in Tuesday's 3-2 shootout win over the Flyers.

Fantilli has three goals and four assists, as well as a plus-6 rating, during his active six-game point streak. The 20-year-old is in a great position to keep his offense rolling while filling in for Sean Monahan (wrist) on the top line. Fantilli is up to 22 points, 87 shots on net, 63 hits, 31 blocked shots and a minus-7 rating across 44 appearances.

  • Blue Jackets' Kirill Marchenko: Late heroics in Tuesday's win

Marchenko picked up an assist and then beat Ivan Fedotov in the final round of the shootout to secure a 3-2 win over the Flyers.

The 24-year-old winger extended his point streak to five games in timely fashion, setting up Zach Werenski for a one-timer into a wide-open cage late in the third period to tie the score at 2-2. Marchenko then ended the night with a cheeky shootout winner, letting the puck slide off his stick before redirecting it under Fedotov's pad at the last second when the goalie opened up. Marchenko has been on fire over the last month, and the confidence is showing -- he's delivered eight goals and 21 points in his last 15 appearances with 56 shots on net, 15 blocked shots, 11 hits and a stunning plus-15 rating.

  • Blue Jackets' Zach Werenski: Carries offense in shootout win

Werenski scored two goals in Tuesday's 3-2 shootout win over the Flyers.

Both tallies were impressive, and both of them tied the score for the Blue Jackets. Werenski stole the puck at his own blue line midway through the first period and beat Ivan Fedotov on a breakaway before ripping home a one-timer on a slick feed from Kirill Marchenko late in the third. The 27-year-old Werenski has stayed healthy this season and is having a breakout campaign under new head coach Dean Evason, and he seems to be getting stronger. Werenski has produced six multi-point performances in the last 10 games, a stretch in which he's erupted for four goals and 18 points with 54 shots on net, 17 blocked shots and a plus-7 rating.

  • Blue Jackets' Daniil Tarasov: Snags win in return

Tarasov stopped 23 shots in regulation and overtime and both shootout attempts he faced in Tuesday's 3-2 win over the Flyers.

In his return from a conditioning stint at AHL Cleveland, Tarasov was able to record his first NHL win since Oct. 22. The 25-year-old netminder still wasn't exactly sharp, however -- Philadelphia's second goal came on a shot from long range by Owen Tippett in the third period that Tarasov got a fairly clean look at. Tarasov is 4-6-1 on the season with a 3.99 GAA and .862 save percentage, and he would seem to be little threat to Elvis Merzlikins' spot at the top of the Columbus depth chart.

  • Blue Jackets' Zach Aston-Reese: Ready to play against Flyers

Aston-Reese (upper body) will be in the lineup versus Philadelphia on Tuesday, Jeff Svoboda of the Blue Jackets' official site reports.

Aston-Reese was injured against the Blues on Saturday but seems no worse for the wear and will remain in the lineup for Tuesday's tilt. Despite being mired in a 10-game pointless streak and 27-game goal drought, the Jackets' penned the 30-year-old winger to a one-year contract extension Monday, so clearly they aren't concerned about his offensive production.

  • Blue Jackets' Daniil Tarasov: Set to start versus Philadelphia

Tarasov will defend the home crease against the Flyers on Tuesday, according to Aaron Portzline of The Athletic.

Tarasov was recalled from his conditioning stint with AHL Cleveland on Sunday. The 25-year-old hasn't made a start in the NHL since Dec. 28, and he hasn't won a game since Oct. 22. Columbus will have the rest advantage Tuesday -- Philadelphia is on the second half of a back-to-back.

  • Blue Jackets' Boone Jenner: Poised to return following break

Jenner (shoulder) is reportedly ahead of schedule and could return to action after the 4 Nations Face-Off, Mark Scheig of The Hockey Writers reports Tuesday.

After the NHL goes on break for the international tournament, the Jackets will resume their seasons against Chicago on Feb 22, so fantasy players may want to circle that date for a potential Jenner return. Given his scoring pace last season, the 31-year-old winger could put up around 15 points in the 26 games he'd have remaining in the regular season, assuming he does in fact play versus the Hawks and avoids any other stints on the shelf.
