Flames' Jonathan Huberdeau: Slated to return Friday
Huberdeau (lower body) is slated to play Friday versus Washington, per Derek Wills of Sportsnet 960 The Fan.

Flames' Zach Whitecloud: Earns first assist with new team
Whitecloud logged an assist and two shots on goal in Wednesday's 4-1 loss to the Penguins.
Whitecloud has essentially replaced the man he was traded for, Rasmus Andersson, in the Flames' lineup. Through two games with the Flames, Whitecloud is averaging 23:04 of ice time, 4:08 higher than he was seeing with the Golden Knights. He's at eight points, 37 shots on net, 66 blocked shots, 74 hits, 20 PIM and a minus-8 rating over 49 appearances this season. Whitecloud has minimal offensive upside, but his production could take a step up if his ice time remains higher with his new team.

Flames' Yegor Sharangovich: Nets lone goal in loss
Sharangovich scored a goal on three shots in Wednesday's 4-1 loss to the Penguins.
Sharangovich got the Flames on the board late in the second period, but the momentum didn't carry over to the third. He's scored three goals and added three assists over his last five outings for one of his best runs of the season. The 27-year-old forward is now at 11 goals, 20 points, 87 shots on net and a minus-14 rating through 46 appearances. Sharangovich is a viable offense-only option in deeper formats while he's running hot.

Flames' Dustin Wolf: Yields four goals in loss
Wolf stopped 21 of 25 shots in Wednesday's 4-1 loss to the Penguins.
Wolf has slipped into a timeshare over the last week or so amid a rough stretch that has seen him lose six of his past seven starts. He's given up four goals in each loss in that span. For the season, the 24-year-old netminder is down to 15-20-2 with a 3.00 GAA and an .898 save percentage. If the workload pattern continues, Devin Cooley would likely start Friday against the Capitals, while Wolf could be tentatively in line for a home start versus the Ducks on Sunday.

Flames' Jonathan Huberdeau: Won't play Wednesday
Huberdeau (lower body) is set to miss Wednesday's game versus the Penguins.
It's not clear when Huberdeau sustained the injury, as he logged 17:02 of ice time versus the Devils on Monday. The 32-year-old hasn't missed time since he was out for the first five games of the season due to an undisclosed injury. His latest issue comes in the midst of an eight-game point drought, which he won't be able to snap until he's healthy again.

Flames' Cullen Potter: Sophomore season ends early
Potter will undergo season-ending surgery to address an upper-body injury, Gabriella Chernoff of SunDevilSource.com reports Tuesday.
Given the length of the NCAA season, his 3-4 month recovery timeline won't allow him to get back into action during 2025-26. The 19-year-old had 12 goals and 26 points over 24 outings for Arizona State University this season. The injury will also likely keep him in the collegiate ranks for another year, as the Flames probably won't want to have him jump up to the AHL after a lengthy absence.

The Flames prospect is doing an excellent job as a freshman, though the big club will have no need to rush his development.

Gridin logged an assist in Monday's 2-1 overtime loss to the Devils.
This was Gridin's first point in two games since he was recalled from AHL Calgary. The 19-year-old dominated with 28 points in 32 appearances for the Wranglers. He'll now get a second chance to stick with the big club after starting 2025-26 with the Flames and earning a goal over four outings. Cooley has made three appearances in January and has allowed two or fewer goals each time. If the rotation between the posts continues, Cooley could be in line to start Friday at home against the Capitals, with Dustin Wolf likely getting the nod against the Penguins on Wednesday.

Flames' Nazem Kadri: Ends scoring drought
Kadri scored a goal in Monday's 2-1 overtime loss to the Devils.
Kadri represented all the offense the Flames could muster in this game after notching a goal midway through the second period. The marker snapped a 13-game scoring drought for the 35-year-old playmaker, whose last goal had come Dec. 18. Kadri remains a valuable offensive weapon for the Flames, and he seems to be trending in the right direction after cracking the scoresheet in the Flames' last two contests.
