Top Rasmus Dahlin News

  • Sabres' Rasmus Dahlin: Goal, six blocks for Sweden in loss

Dahlin scored a goal for Sweden in Saturday's 4-3 overtime loss to Finland at the 4 Nations Face-Off in Montreal.

Dahlin snuck in untouched from the left point and tapped the puck in from the doorstep. He had a game-high six blocks to go with one hit. Dahlin entered the tournament on a five-game, eight-point streak (one goal, seven assists) with the Sabres.

  • Sabres' Rasmus Dahlin: One of each Saturday

Dahlin scored a goal, added an assist, went plus-2 and levied three hits in Saturday's 6-4 loss to the Predators.

Dahlin scored to tie the game at 2-2 late in the first period and also helped out on an Alex Tuch tally in the second. With four multi-point efforts and 11 points over his last nine outings, Dahlin is in a bit of a groove. His goal was his first since Nov. 23, snapping a 24-game drought in which he racked up 21 helpers. The 24-year-old blueliner has seven goals, 35 assists, 118 shots on net, 57 hits, 68 blocked shots and a plus-5 rating through 46 appearances this season.

  • Sabres' Rasmus Dahlin: Two apples in home win

Dahlin recorded two assists, one while shorthanded, in Sunday's 4-3 win over New Jersey.

Dahlin has garnered back-to-back multi-point efforts and has five helpers during his three-game point streak. While the smooth-skating blueliner has been productive in the assist department, he hasn't found the back of the net since Nov. 23, though he missed eight games in December. Dahlin has registered at least one shot on goal in every game since his last tally, so the dam could break soon. His current 5.2 shooting percentage is his worst mark since the 2020-21 campaign.

  • Sabres' Rasmus Dahlin: Two more helpers Friday

Dahlin recorded two assists, two shots, three hits and three blocked shots in Friday's 4-3 win over the Predators.

Dahlin cracked the scoresheet for the fourth time over his last six appearances, tallying six helpers. Even though the 24-year-old has scored just six goals in 43 appearances, the fact that he has notched 31 assists has kept him a relevant fantasy contributor in all offensive formats. Dahlin has 11 assists over 13 appearances in January.

  • Sabres' Rasmus Dahlin: Dishes pair of helpers

Dahlin notched two assists, two shots on goal and a plus-3 rating in Tuesday's 3-2 win over the Canucks.

Dahlin is warming up again with three helpers over two contests to begin the Sabres' current road trip. The 24-year-old defenseman had a hand in both goals during the third period as the Sabres came back from a 2-1 deficit. Dahlin is now at six goals, 28 assists, 107 shots on net, 53 blocked shots, 44 hits and a plus-3 rating over 39 appearances in his usual top-pairing role.

  • Sabres' Rasmus Dahlin: Helps out on power play

Dahlin logged a power-play assist and a minus-2 rating in Monday's 6-4 loss to the Kraken.

Dahlin had been held off the scoresheet for two games following the end of a five-game assist streak. The 24-year-old defenseman has 13 helpers over his last 12 outings, including six on the power play. For the season, Dahlin's up to 32 points (14 on the power play), 106 shots on net, 53 blocked shots, 44 hits, 26 PIM and an even plus-minus rating over 38 appearances as Buffalo's top blueliner.

  • Sabres' Rasmus Dahlin: Assist streak at five games

Dahlin picked up an assist Saturday in a 6-2 loss to Seattle. It came on the power play.

He had five shots and two hits. Dahlin, who has 31 points in 35 games this season, extended his assist streak to five games (five assists) for the fifth time in his career. That passes John Van Boxmeer (four) for the second-most such streaks by a defenseman in Sabres history, behind leader Phil Housley (nine). Dahlin has gone 14 games without a goal. He does have six snipes and 99 shots in 35 games, and he will likely crack the double-digit goal mark. But Dahlin won't come close to his career mark of 20 snipes and 235 shots, both set last season. Still, he's cruising at close to a point-per-game, so we'll gladly put him over the boards every chance we can.

  • Sabres' Rasmus Dahlin: Nabs power-play helper

Dahlin notched a power-play assist, three shots on goal, three blocked shots, two hits and a minus-2 rating in Saturday's 3-1 loss to the Golden Knights.

Dahlin has nine assists over his last six games, including a trio of power-play helpers. The 24-year-old defenseman had a shot that led to a Jason Zucker goal on the rebound for the Sabres' lone tally in Saturday's contest. Dahlin is up to 28 points (11 on the power play), 92 shots on net, 47 blocked shots, 37 hits, 20 PIM and a plus-3 rating over 32 appearances in a top-pairing role.

  • Sabres' Rasmus Dahlin: Racking up apples

Dahlin posted an even-strength assist in Sunday's 4-2 win over the Blues.

Dahlin registered the secondary assist on Peyton Krebs' fourth goal of the campaign in the opening frame. Dahlin has accumulated seven helpers during his three-game point streak, which follows up a five-game stretch in which he was held off the scoresheet entirely. The smooth-skating blueliner leads Buffalo's back end in scoring with six goals and 26 points through 29 appearances, and he's tied for third overall on the team in points. That's an impressive feat considering the 24-year-old has missed eight games this season due to back spasms. Dahlin and the Sabres will attempt to win their fourth consecutive game Tuesday in Dallas.

  • Sabres' Rasmus Dahlin: Two more assists Friday

Dahlin logged two assists, three shots on goal, two hits and a plus-3 rating in Friday's 6-2 win over the Blackhawks.

With six helpers, a plus-7 rating and three blocked shots over his last two games, it looks like Dahlin is back in form after a bout of back spasms cost him eight of nine contests from Dec. 5-21. The 24-year-old defenseman is up to 25 points, 83 shots on net, 39 blocked shots, 29 hits, 18 PIM and a plus-10 rating over 28 appearances. Dahlin should benefit from not having any back-to-backs over the next five games, which should help prevent any lingering issues from cropping up.

  • Sabres' Rasmus Dahlin: Collects four helpers in victory

Dahlin registered four assists, one shot on goal and two blocked shots in Monday's 7-1 win over the Islanders.

Dahlin sat out Saturday's 3-1 loss to Boston after returning from a seven-game absence due to a back issue against Toronto on Friday. The Sabres didn't want him playing in both games of the back-to-back situation, and the additional rest appeared beneficial. Dahlin didn't have a point in five straight outings before breaking out in Monday's win, helping Buffalo end a woeful 13-game losing streak. He has six goals and 17 helpers through 27 appearances this season.

  • Sabres' Rasmus Dahlin: Absence was planned

Dahlin's absence from Saturday's 3-1 loss to Boston was planned, according to coach Lindy Ruff. The 24-year-old defenseman returned from a back injury Friday.

Dahlin logged 27:33 of ice time in Friday's 6-3 loss to Toronto, but Ruff didn't want him to play on consecutive days so soon after returning from injury. Dahlin missed seven straight games from Dec. 5-17. He'll presumably be back in the lineup for Monday's tilt against the Islanders, which might result in Jacob Bryson, who logged 13:56 of ice time versus the Bruins, being a healthy scratch.

  • Sabres' Rasmus Dahlin: Late scratch Saturday

Dahlin, who returned from a back injury Friday, won't be in the lineup for Saturday's tilt against Boston, per Lance Lysowski of The Buffalo News.

Buffalo may have chosen not to play Dahlin in consecutive nights so soon after recovering from injury, per Lysowski. The 24-year-old Dahlin logged 27:33 of ice time in his return from a seven-game absence in Friday's 6-3 loss to Toronto, recording five shots and one hit. With Dahlin and Dennis Gilbert coming out of Saturday's lineup, Jacob Bryson and Henri Jokiharju will play against Boston.

  • Sabres' Rasmus Dahlin: Slated to return Friday

Dahlin (back) will be available for Friday's matchup against Toronto, Mike Harrington of The Buffalo News reports.

Dahlin has been sidelined since early December due to back spasms, but he's trended in the right direction lately, and head coach Lindy Ruff confirmed Thursday that the 24-year-old blueliner will be back in action for the first half of a back-to-back set Friday. Over his first 25 appearances of the season, Dahlin racked up six goals, 13 assists, 36 blocked shots, 26 hits and 18 PIM while averaging 24:42 of ice time.

  • Sabres' Rasmus Dahlin: Could return Friday

Dahlin (back) is expected to get a full practice Thursday which could clear the way for him to play in Friday's matchup with Toronto, Paul Hamilton of WGR Sports Radio 550 reports.

Based on Dahlin's timeline, he won't be available for Tuesday's clash with Montreal but appears to be making strides in his recovery. The 24-year-old blueliner will be sidelined for his seventh consecutive game due to his back problem. Prior to getting hurt, Dahlin was stuck in a four-game pointless streak, his longest of the 2024-25 campaign.

Per Heather Engel of NHL.com, Dahlin (back) returned to the ice Friday and is progressing, according to head coach Lindy Ruff.

  • Sabres' Rasmus Dahlin: Lands on injured reserve

Dahlin (back) was placed on injured reserve Monday, per the NHL media site.

Head coach Lindy Ruff said Monday that Dahlin went through a rehab skate with no issues and could return to game action Saturday against the Capitals or Sunday against the Maple Leafs. The defenseman has been dealing with back spasms since Buffalo's Dec. 3 matchup against the Avalanche, and he could still be in the mix to be activated over the weekend. However, Dahlin's move to injured reserve allowed the Sabres to activate Jordan Greenway (undisclosed) ahead of Monday's game against the Red Wings.

  • Sabres' Rasmus Dahlin: Targeting Saturday return

Dahlin (back) is progressing in his recovery and is hoping to play against the Capitals or Maple Leafs on Saturday or Sunday, respectively, Lance Lysowski of The Buffalo News reports.

Based on his timeline, Dahlin will be sidelined for at least the Sabres' next two contests as he works his way back from his back injury. Prior to getting hurt, the 24-year-old blueliner was stuck in a four-game point drought, during which he generated 10 shots on net, four hits and four blocked shots while averaging 24:25 of ice time. Once cleared to return, Dahlin will link back up with the No. 1 power-play unit and should eventually break out of his slump. With Jordan Greenway (undisclosed) likely to be activated ahead of Monday's clash with Detroit, Dahlin may have to be designated for injured reserve in order to clear up a roster spot.
