  • Lightning's Brandon Hagel: Gets one-game ban

Hagel was suspended one game Friday for interference on the Panthers' Aleksander Barkov (undisclosed) in Thursday's Game 2.

Hagel will be out of the lineup Saturday for Game 3, but he'll be eligible to return in Monday's Game 4. The 26-year-old winger is minus-4 with three shots on net, five hits and five PIM over two contests in the playoffs so far, but the Lightning will miss his two-way play, especially when they're already down 2-0 in the series.

  • Lightning's Brandon Hagel: Headed for suspension

Hagel will have a hearing with the Department of Player Safety on Friday for interference on Aleksander Barkov in Game 2.

Hagel should be expected to miss at least one game, given that he is having a hearing with the league. As such, fantasy players should expect the winger to be sidelined for Game 3 versus Florida on Saturday at a minimum. With Hagel expected to miss out, Conor Geekie could be elevated to a top-six role as well as take the open spot on the No. 1 power-play unit.

  • Lightning's Brandon Hagel: May face supplemental discipline

Hagel may face supplemental discipline after he left his feet to deliver a high hit to Aleksander Barkov that knocked the Florida star out of the game. Hagel received a five-minute major.

The Bolts lost the tight contest 2-0. Hagel's hit was dirty, which really isn't like him. Victor Hedman played the puck and Barkov was looking at Hedman when Hagel jumped to Barkov's head and neck. The league will undoubtedly look at this hit; there was no report on Barkov's status after the game.

  • Lightning's Brandon Hagel: Two helpers in Wednesday's loss

Hagel pocketed two assists, one on the power play, in Wednesday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Maple Leafs.

The 26-year-old winger continues to be an incredibly steady contributor for the Lightning. Hagel hasn't gone back-to-back games without getting onto the scoresheet in over a month, and over the last 17 contests he's produced five goals and 17 points. He needs five more points over Tampa Bay's final four regular-season games to reach 90 for the first time in his career.

  • Lightning's Brandon Hagel: Deposits empty-netter

Hagel scored an empty-net goal in Monday's 5-1 win over the Rangers.

Hagel has slowed down slightly to begin April -- he has two goals on nine shots over four games this month. The winger racked up 14 points in 15 contests in March. For the season, he's once again taken his offense to another level with 35 goals, 48 assists, 217 shots on net and a plus-31 rating across 77 appearances. The Lightning still have a chance at the top spot in the Atlantic Division, so they won't be resting players just yet, which means fantasy managers should keep Hagel firmly in their lineups.

  • Lightning's Brandon Hagel: Sets single-season NHL record

Hagel had a goal and an assist in a 3-2 shootout win over Dallas on Thursday.

He put the Bolts up 1-0 in the first when he converted a cross-crease pass from Anthony Cirelli. Hagel set a single-season NHL record for most goals scored by a player without recording a power-play goal with his 32nd of the year. That record was held by Doug Smail with Winnipeg in 1984-85 (31). Hagel also tied his career high in points (75), set last season, in just 68 games and continues to flirt with 90 points and 230-plus shots.

  • Lightning's Brandon Hagel: New career mark for goals

Hagel scored a goal in a 6-2 win over Boston on Saturday.

Hagel has a point in each of his last three games (one goal, two assists) and five points, including four assists, in his past five contests. It was Hagel's first goal in seven games, and his 31st snipe of the season, which set a new career mark. Put your hand up if you believed this guy would be a top-12 goal scorer in the NHL. Hagel is one of three Bolts who rank among the top 12 in goals. Jake Guentzel and Brayden Point both have 32 and are in a three-way tie for ninth, while Nikita Kucherov is 19th with 28.

He has 30 goals, which is third on the Bolts, and his 40 assists are the best of the rest behind uber-playmaker, Nikita Kucherov (64). Hagel's career-high mark of 75 points came last season, and he's on pace to hit the 90-point mark this season.

  • Lightning's Brandon Hagel: Hits 30-goal mark this season

Hagel scored a goal Saturday in a 3-1 win over the Capitals.

Hagel extended his point streak to eight games (14 points; eight goals, six assists). The goal was his 30th this season (68 points), which ties his career mark set in 2022-23. Remarkably, none of those goals have come on the power play. Hagel is on track for a possible 40-goal, 95-point and 240-shot season. He's done it the hard way -- seven of his points (three goals, four assists) have come shorthanded, while just seven (all assists) have come on the power play. Hagel would get some Selke consideration if he didn't already have 42 PIM this year.

Hagel scored a goal and added an assist in Thursday's 3-0 win over Calgary.

Hagel scored a goal and registered five shots in a 4-1 win over the Oilers on Tuesday.

Hagel has delivered a six-game, 13-point scoring streak that includes six goals, and he has put up a goal in five of those six games. How impressive has he been this season? Hagel is tied with Mark Scheifele for 12th in the NHL in scoring with 65 points, and the Jets' pivot continues to be lauded for his dominant excellence this season. Hagel's also only two points behind superstar Mikko Rantanen. Ride this wave -- it looks sustainable. Hagel is just 26 years old, so this isn't lightning in an older player's bottle.

  • Lightning's Brandon Hagel: Tallies two points

Hagel netted a shorthanded goal, dished an assist and blocked three shots in Sunday's 4-1 win against Seattle.

Hagel's return from playing with Team Canada in the 4 Nations Face-Off was an all-around performance highlighted by acquiring two points at a skater disadvantage. His shorthanded goal opened scoring on the night in the second period and his assist was on Nick Paul's empty-net tally. Overall, Hagel is up to 27 goals, 37 assists and 161 shots on net in 56 appearances this season. At 64 points, the 26-year-old winger ranks tied for the 12th-most points in the league and is tied for 10th in goals. He should continue to provide fantasy managers great value while skating in Tampa Bay's top six and on the first power-play unit.

  • Lightning's Brandon Hagel: Supplies two helpers Sunday

Hagel produced two assists, three hits and a plus-2 rating in Sunday's 5-3 win over the Canadiens.

The winger is up to a stellar 62 points (seven on the power play, six shorthanded), 159 shots on net, 43 hits, 42 blocked shots, 40 PIM and a plus-24 rating over 55 appearances. His career high in points is 75 from the 2023-24 regular season, and it's very much in reach. He'll have to put his NHL success on pause for a couple of weeks, but Hagel will be active for Team Canada at the 4 Nations Face-Off.
