Capitals' Pierre-Luc Dubois: Two points including game-winner
Dubois scored the game-winning goal and added a power-play assist in Saturday's 6-5 victory over the Devils.
After helping to set up Connor McMichael in the second period, Dubois potted Washington's final tally of the night midway through the third, firing the puck into a wide-open cage after Aliaksei Protas stole it from Jake Allen behind the New Jersey net. It was the first game-winning goal as a member of the Capitals for Dubois, who has three goals and 16 points in 24 games with his new club.

Dubois has enjoyed a strong November, racking up one goals, eight assists and 13 shots on net over 12 appearances this month. While he's not generating or finishing many of his own chances, he's serving as a strong two-way center and playmaker on the second line. Overall, he has 14 points, 32 shots on net, 22 hits, 19 blocked shots, 14 PIM and a plus-4 rating over 21 contests.

Dubois ended a 12-game goal-scoring drought with his first period marker and now stands at two goals and 13 points in 19 games to start the season with his new team. The 26-year-old is emerging as an invaluable two-way player for the Capitals and some positive regression in the goal-scoring department is all that is needed for Dubois' fantasy appeal to reach another level.

Capitals' Pierre-Luc Dubois: Extends point streak in victory
Dubois facilitated two goals and posted a plus-2 rating Friday in a 5-2 win over Colorado.
Dubois was credited with the primary helper on Jakub Vrana's power-play marker, and he also set up Jakob Chychrun at even strength. Dubois has collected at least one assist in three consecutive games and five of the last seven. The left-shot center is on his way to surpassing the 40 points he produced over 82 regular-season games in 2023-24. Overall, the Quebec native has chipped in 11 points (one goal) through 16 games. Dubois is in a three-way tie with Alex Ovechkin and John Carlson for second on the club in assists behind Dylan Strome (19).

Sammi Silber of The Hockey News reports Dubois is being utilized as shutdown center -- he frequently matched up against the Stars' top line in Thursday's contest, and it was a battle he won. The 26-year-old center is better known for his offense, but he needs to show well-rounded skills to maintain a top-six role with the Capitals. If Dubois can balance defense and offense throughout the campaign, he could be a solid depth forward for fantasy managers.

Dubois notched his first point as a Capital on Washington's opening goal. Traded twice in as many seasons, Dubois knows the pressure is on to show he can still be a difference-maker at the NHL level and the Capitals are bound to be pleased with the blend of speed and skill he showed in Saturday's loss. The 26-year-old could be worthy of a pickup for risk-tolerant fantasy managers.

Capitals' Pierre-Luc Dubois: Moving to Washington
Dubois was acquired by the Capitals from the Kings on Wednesday in exchange for Darcy Kuemper.
The Kings made a big bet on Dubois in the summer of 2023, trading Alex Iafallo, Gabriel Vilardi, Rasmus Kupari and a 2024 second-round pick to get him from the Jets. The move also involved signing Dubois to an eight-year, $68 million contract. The idea was that the center, who provides a strong blend of grit and skill, would make the Kings deep up the middle in the short term and perhaps even be the eventual successor to Anze Kopitar. However, Dubois went from recording at least 60 points in each of his previous two campaigns to finishing with 16 goals and 40 points across 82 regular-season contests in 2023-24. Averaging 15:42 of ice time this season, down from 18:27 in 2022-23, probably didn't help his offensive production, so perhaps the move to Washington will do him some good. Nicklas Backstrom (hip) isn't expected to play at all next season, which leaves the door open for Dubois to possibly serve as the Capitals' top-line center.

Kings' Pierre-Luc Dubois: Nets goal in Game 1 loss
Dubois scored a goal on three shots, added four PIM and dished out five hits in Monday's 7-4 loss to the Oilers in Game 1.
Dubois' goal late in the third period was little more than window dressing in the high-scoring loss. The 25-year-old had five points over the last nine games of the regular season, finishing the campaign at 40 points in 82 appearances. He's still in a bottom-six role in the playoffs, and he'll likely stay there as long as both Anze Kopitar and Phillip Danault are healthy.
