  • Avalanche's Scott Wedgewood: Activated from IR

Wedgewood (lower body) was activated from injured reserve Sunday. Wedgewood is slated to rejoin the Avs after missing five games with a lower-body injury. The veteran netminder figures to return to a backup role behind Mackenzie Blackwood. Since joining Colorado, Wedgewood is 4-2-0 with a .917 save percentage and 2.35 GAA across seven appearances.

  • Avalanche's Scott Wedgewood: On injured reserve

Wedgewood (lower body) was placed on injured reserve Saturday, per the NHL media site. Wedgewood is week-to-week after being injured in Thursday's 6-5 overtime win over Buffalo. The Avalanche will lean heavily on Mackenzie Blackwood during Wedgewood's absence. However, Trent Miner might start in the team's back-to-back against Chicago and Minnesota on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively. The 32-year-old Wedgewood has a 5-4-1 record, 2.90 GAA and .900 save percentage in 12 appearances between Nashville and Colorado in 2024-25.

  • Avalanche's Scott Wedgewood: Still being evaluated

Wedgewood (lower body) continues to undergo further evaluation but appears to be facing a somewhat long-term absence after head coach Jared Bednar told reporters Friday, "I'm guessing it's going to be week-to-week," per Aarif Deen of Colorado Hockey Now. It's a tough blow for Wedgewood considering he was putting up decent numbers in Colorado. The 32-year-old netminder is 4-2-0 with a 2.35 GAA and one shutout in seven appearances for the Avalanche. Still, barring a long-term concern, Wedgewood could still see plenty of action this season as the No. 2 option in Colorado. In the meantime, the Avs will likely need to bring up either Kevin Mandolese or Trent Miner from the minors ahead of Saturday's clash with Montreal.

  • Avalanche's Scott Wedgewood: Leaves Thursday's game

Wedgewood exited Thursday's game versus the Sabres with an apparent lower-body injury after a collision in the third period, Jesse Montano of Guerilla Sports reports. Wedgewood couldn't put any weight on his right leg as he left the ice. He's been fantastic in a backup role since he was traded from Nashville, though he was saddled with four goals on 18 shots Thursday -- the fourth goal coming on the play that left him injured. The Avalanche may need to make a move for another goaltender prior to Saturday's game versus the Canadiens if Wedgewood's injury is as bad as it looks.

  • Avalanche's Scott Wedgewood: Facing Sabres

Wedgewood will defend the home crease versus Buffalo on Thursday, Corey Masisak of The Denver Post reports. Wedgewood has been stellar since his trade from Nashville, going 4-2-0 with a 1.94 GAA and a .932 save percentage over six outings with his new team. Wedgewood will face the Sabres, who are averaging 3.03 goals per game in 2024-25, which is tied for 18th in the NHL.

  • Avalanche's Scott Wedgewood: Makes 30 saves in win

Wedgewood stopped 30 of 32 shots in Friday's 4-2 win over the Ducks. Wedgewood earned his fourth win in six outings with the Avalanche in this contest. He limited the damage to goals by Leo Carlsson and Alex Killorn, helping the Avalanche sweep a back-to-back set. Wedgewood improved to 5-4-1 with a 2.69 GAA and a .908 save percentage over 11 appearances between Colorado and Nashville this season. He's settled in nicely to the backup role with his new team, and he's a strong fantasy play whenever he starts. Mackenzie Blackwood will likely get the nod versus the Kraken on Sunday.

  • Avalanche's Scott Wedgewood: Starting in Anaheim

Wedgewood will start Friday's road game versus Anaheim, Ducks PA Announcer Phil Hulett reports. Wedgewood lost his last start, giving up three goals on 22 shots against Utah. The 32-year-old has won three of five outings with the Avalanche, including one shutout, and he's allowed just nine goals since he was traded from the Predators. Wedgewood has a favorable matchup Friday, though the Avalanche are playing the second half of a back-to-back.

  • Avalanche's Scott Wedgewood: Falls to Utah

Wedgewood stopped 19 of 22 shots in Thursday's 4-1 loss to Utah. The fourth goal was an empty-netter. The Avalanche didn't get on the board until Nathan MacKinnon scored with 4:34 left in the third period while Wedgewood was pulled for an extra attacker. Colorado's rally ended with a Kevin Stenlund empty-netter 23 seconds later. Wedgewood is now 3-2-0 with nine goals allowed over five appearances since he was traded from the Predators to the Avalanche. Overall, he's at a 4-4-1 record with a 2.77 GAA and a .904 save percentage over 10 games this season. Mackenzie Blackwood was healthy enough to back up Thursday, though the Avalanche have not yet named a starting goalie for Saturday's contest versus the Predators.

  • Avalanche's Scott Wedgewood: Guarding cage Thursday

Wedgewood will patrol the home crease versus Utah on Thursday, Adrian Hernandez of Mile High Hockey reports. Wedgewood will make his third straight start as the Avalanche return home from a five-game road trip. Wedgewood has allowed only two goals on 52 shots in wins over Pittsburgh and New Jersey, raising his record to 4-3-1 across nine appearances this season. He will face Utah, who are averaging 2.96 goals in 2024-25.

  • Avalanche's Scott Wedgewood: Set to start Tuesday

Wedgewood is slated to serve as the starting netminder for Tuesday's road game against the Penguins, Jesse Montano of Guerilla Sports reports. Although the Avalanche traded for Mackenzie Blackwood on Monday, it isn't very surprising to see Wedgewood get the start Tuesday since Blackwood is feeling under the weather and won't join the team in Pittsburgh. Wedgewood has been productive over his first three appearances with Colorado, posting a 2-1-0 record, 1.44 GAA and .951 save percentage.

  • Avalanche's Scott Wedgewood: Posts 25-save shutout

Wedgewood recorded a 25-save shutout in Sunday's 4-0 win over the Devils. Wedgewood made his third appearance and second start in four games since joining the Avalanche. This was a good one for the 32-year-old, as he was able to keep a potent offense at bay for his first shutout since the 2022-23 campaign. He's now 3-3-1 with a 2.82 GAA and a .906 save percentage over eight contests (six starts) between Colorado and Nashville this season. If Wedgewood finds any consistency between the pipes, he'll offer a challenge to Alexandar Georgiev's starting role.

  • Avalanche's Scott Wedgewood: Starting Sunday

Wedgewood will patrol the visiting crease against New Jersey on Sunday, according to Corey Masisak of The Denver Post. The Avalanche will use Alexandar Georgiev in Detroit on Saturday, leaving Sunday's start to Wedgewood. Wedgewood has stopped 52 of 56 shots (.929 save percentage) in his two appearances with the Avalanche since being acquired from Nashville seven days ago. New Jersey has scored the second-most goals (102) in the NHL this campaign.

  • Avalanche's Scott Wedgewood: Takes loss in first start for Avs

Wedgewood stopped 30 of 34 shots in Thursday's 5-3 loss to the Hurricanes, with Carolina's final goal getting scored into an empty net. Making his first start for Colorado since being acquired from Nashville at the end of November, Wedgewood failed to make a strong impression, although two of Carolina's tallies came on power plays, and a third was tipped home by Eric Robinson on a point shot by Brent Burns. The door is open for Wedgewood to seize the No. 1 job for the Avalanche given Alexandar Georgiev's struggles this season, but he'll need to perform better to bump the incumbent starter aside. Through seven appearances this season between the Avalanche and the Predators, the 32-year-old Wedgewood has a 3.28 GAA and .893 save percentage.

  • Avalanche's Scott Wedgewood: Between the pipes Thursday

Wedgewood will get the road start in Carolina on Thursday, Corey Masisak of The Denver Post reports. Wedgewood will make his second appearance -- and first start -- for the Avalanche since his trade from Nashville on Saturday. Wedgewood came on in relief of Alexandar Georgiev on Tuesday with the Avs trailing 4-0 in the first period and proceeded to stop all 22 shots, as Colorado came back to defeat Buffalo 5-4. Wedgewood has a serious opportunity to grab the top job from Georgiev and will get his first chance Thursday in Carolina. The Hurricanes are third in NHL scoring, averaging 3.72 goals per game.

  • Avalanche's Scott Wedgewood: Traded to Colorado

Wedgewood was traded from Nashville to Colorado on Saturday for Justus Annunen and a 2025 sixth-round pick. Wedgewood could push Alexandar Georgiev for playing time, as Colorado has struggled between the pipes this season. While seeing limited action behind Juuse Saros, Wedgewood posted a 1-2-1 record with a 3.69 GAA and an .878 save percentage for the Predators in 2024-25.

  • Predators' Scott Wedgewood: Needed in relief Monday

Wedgewood stopped all 15 shots he faced after replacing Juuse Saros to begin the third period of Monday's 5-2 loss to the Devils. New Jersey out-shot Nashville 45-21 on the night, and the final result would have been even more lopsided had it not been for the two Predators goalies. Wedgewood hasn't gotten a start since Nov. 14, and through five appearances on the season, he sports a shaky 3.69 GAA and .878 save percentage. Monday's strong effort in relief could earn him more playing time, and Wedgewood should start one of this weekend's contests, either Friday at home against Tampa Bay or Saturday in Minnesota.

  • Predators' Scott Wedgewood: Loses in overtime

Wedgewood stopped 31 of 34 shots in Thursday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Oilers. Wedgewood dropped to 1-2-1 on the year, but this was arguably his best outing. He was able to keep the game close, though the trio of Darnell Nurse, Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl combined for three goals and seven points. Wedgewood has allowed 15 goals on 103 shots for an .854 save percentage through four appearances. Look for Juuse Saros to get the starting nod in Calgary on Friday to complete this back-to-back set in Alberta.

  • Predators' Scott Wedgewood: Starting in Edmonton

Wedgewood will protect the road goal versus the Oilers on Thursday, Brooks Bratten of the Predators' official site reports. Juuse Saros has already lost to the Oilers twice this season, and this is the first half of a back-to-back set, so Wedgewood will get the nod. Wedgewood hasn't been sharp in limited action, allowing 13 goals on 82 shots over three appearances, going 1-2-0 in those games.

  • Predators' Scott Wedgewood: Loses to former team

Wedgewood surrendered four goals on 20 shots in Thursday's 4-3 loss to the Stars. While the Predators' new-look offense controlled play pretty well, the Stars were opportunistic against their former teammate, striking four times in the second period. Wedgewood got the Opening Night assignment because Juuse Saros (lower body) was unavailable. Depending on the length of Saros' absence, Wedgewood may have some short-term fantasy appeal, but he was roughly average last season with a 16-7-5 record, 2.85 GAA and .899 save percentage over 32 appearances.

  • Predators' Scott Wedgewood: Shaky again Wednesday

Wedgewood stopped just 11 of 15 shots in Wednesday's 6-4 preseason win over the Hurricanes. While Nashville's offense dominated play and built a 3-0 lead midway through the first period, Wedgewood wasn't exactly sharp on the limited shot volume he faced. The 32-year-old goalie was brought in this offseason to provide a steady veteran backup to Juuse Saros, but Wedgewood has coughed up 10 goals on only 38 shots in two exhibition outings for the Preds. If his struggles continue into the regular season, Magnus Chrona or Matt Murray could get a look as Saros' understudy instead.
