Hicks (ankle) was listed as a limited participant in Thursday's walkthrough practice.
Hicks hasn't played since Week 11 due to a lingering injury, but Thursday's walkthrough session marks his first time since suffering the ankle issue being listed as more than a non-participant at practice. The starting safety will have two more opportunities to further upgrade his practice level prior to Monday's road matchup against Minnesota.

Dexter (knee) was a non-participant at Thursday's walkthrough practice.
Dexter played a season-low 21 percent of defensive snaps during Chicago's loss to the 49ers in Week 14, seemingly due to the knee injury he's now managing. If the second-year pro can't get healthy in time for Monday's divisional road matchup against the Vikings, Byron Cowart and Chris Williams will stand to see increased opportunities at defensive tackle.

Homer was forced off the field during Sunday's loss to the 49ers due to a head injury, but it appears he's now fully recovered. With D'Andre Swift (groin) and Roschon Johnson (concussion) both listed as non-participants Thursday, Homer's availability as a backfield depth option may be key heading into Monday's divisional road matchup against the Vikings.

Johnson (concussion) was a non-participant at Thursday's walkthrough.
Johnson has been a listed DNP since sustaining a concussion during a Thanksgiving day loss at Detroit, sitting out Week 14 at San Francisco so far. With no activity to speak of yet, he clearly hasn't made much progress through the protocol for head inuries. Meanwhile, fellow RB D'Andre Swift (groin) also was a non-participant Thursday, and Travis Homer (head) was listed as full. Consequently, the state of the Bears backfield remains in flux ahead of Monday's game in Minnesota.

Bears' D'Andre Swift: Listed as DNP on Thursday
Swift (going) didn't take part in Thursday's walkthrough.
Swift dealt with a quadriceps injury last week but still suited up this past Sunday at San Francisco. He didn't find much success, though, turning 15 touches into 40 yards from scrimmage on a 79 percent snap share. He's now tending to a new health concern, while fellow RB Roschon Johnson (concussion), who was inactive Week 14, also sat out Thursday, and Travis Homer (head) was listed as full. As a result, the Bears backfield will be monitored closely to see who among the trio may be available Monday in Minnesota.

Bears' DeAndre Carter: Placed on IR, done for season
Carter (hamstring) was placed on injured reserve Wednesday, Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com reports.
It effectively ends Carter's 2024 season, as he'll be required to miss the team's final four contests after he was injured in Chicago's Week 14 loss to the 49ers. Carter finishes the year with nine catches for 72 yards on 14 targets. His main contributions came on special teams, where Carter returned 15 kickoffs for 479 yards and 17 punts for 158 yards. Carter also lost one fumble. Josh Blackwell took over punt-return duties following Carter's injury.
