Falcons' James Pearce: Arrested on domestic violence charges
Pearce was arrested in Florida on Saturday on domestic violence charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and aggravated stalking, Marc Raimondi of ESPN.com reports.
Pearce just completed his rookie season with the Falcons. He could face discipline by the NFL, though the league will likely wait to make any such determination until more information emerges and the legal process plays out. In an initial team statement, the Falcons stated, "We are aware of an incident involving James Pearce Jr., in Miami. We are in the process of gathering more information and will not have any further comment on an open legal matter at this time," per Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.

Falcons' Kirk Cousins: Expected to be cut by Atlanta
The Falcons are expected to cut Cousins before the new league year starts in March, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
The Falcons worked with Cousins on Tuesday to restructure the veteran quarterback's contract by modifying the final two years of the deal to give Atlanta more cap flexibility and incentivize a release sooner rather than later, as Cousins would be slated to get $67.9 million guaranteed were he to be on the roster at the start of the league year. That leaves the Falcons with questions over who they will add to their quarterback room with Michael Penix (knee), while Cousins contemplates joining a team in 2026, including a reunion with the Vikings, per Alec Lewis of The Athletic. Cousins appeared in 10 regular-season games (eight starts) with Atlanta in 2025, when he completed 61.7 percent of his passes for 1,721 yards, 10 touchdowns and five interceptions.

Falcons' Leonard Floyd: Production dips in 10th NFL season
Floyd recorded 19 tackles (six solo), including 3.5 sacks, and one pass defense across 15 regular-season games in 2025.
Floyd was cut by the 49ers in March in a cap-saving move but quickly inked a one-year, $10 million contract with the Falcons. He logged at least 8.5 sacks in five consecutive years prior to 2025 and was set to lead an Atlanta pass rush that also consisted of rookie first-rounders James Pearce and Jalon Walker. However, Floyd's defensive snap count and production dipped noticeably in 2025, as he set a career low in tackles while recording the least amount of sacks in a season since 2019 as a member of the Bears (3.0). Floyd is an unrestricted free agent this offseason, and while Spotrac projects his annual market value at $8.9 million, it's hard to say whether a team is willing to pay that kind of money for an edge rusher entering his age-34 campaign.
