Chargers' Quentin Johnston: Questionable due to groin injury
Johnston (groin) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game at Kansas City due to a groin injury, Eric Smith of the Chargers' official site reports.
Johnston showed up on the Chargers' Week 15 practice report Friday as a limited participant, and his status thus is up in the air heading into the weekend. Sudden appearances on practice reports are typically indicative of health concerns suffered during drills, but in any case, the team will confirm Johnston's availability about 90 minutes before Sunday's 1 p.m. ET kickoff.

Chargers' Quentin Johnston: Not available Sunday
Johnston (groin) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Chiefs.
Johnston was a late addition to the Chargers' Week 15 injury report, with Los Angeles listing him as questionable for Sunday's contest after he was unexpectedly a limited participant during Friday's practice. The third-year wideout ultimately won't be able to give it a go Sunday, resulting in him missing his second game of the season. With Johnston sidelined, the Chargers could have more reps and targets available for Keenan Allen and Tre' Harris behind No. 1 wideout Ladd McConkey.

Chargers' Quentin Johnston: Used sparingly in win
Johnston caught two of his three targets for eight yards in the Chargers' 22-19 overtime win over the Eagles on Monday.
Los Angeles couldn't get anything going through the air as almost half of the team's total passing yards (139) came on a two-yard checkdown to second-year running back Kimani Vidal who burst ahead for a 60-yard completion. That's a credit to the fearsome Philadelphia pass rush who created pressure on over half of Justin Herbert's dropbacks. None of that really helps fantasy managers dependent on Johnston, however, and it's entirely possible similar issues present themselves against a difficult Kansas City defense in Arrowhead come Week 15.

Chargers' Quentin Johnston: Full practice Friday
Johnston (shoulder) was a full practice participant Friday.
During Johnston's limited session Thursday, he was seen wearing a non-contact jersey, per Kris Rhim of ESPN.com. A return to all activity one day later indicates Johnston is good to go ahead of Monday's game versus the Eagles, but since a hot start to the season, he's taken a significant downturn in the Chargers offense, with just a 14-148-3 line on 28 targets over his last six appearances.

Chargers' Quentin Johnston: Limited by shoulder injury
Johnston (shoulder) was limited at practice Thursday.
Per Kris Rhim of ESPN.com, Johnston wore a non-contact jersey during Thursday's session, with the Chargers' ensuing injury report revealing that the wideout is managing a shoulder issue. Johnston now has two more chances to upgrade his participation level ahead of Monday night's game against the Eagles. After recording five catches for 42 yards on 10 targets in Week 10, Johnston has been targeted three times in each of his last two outings, though he did manage to put up a 3-23-1 receiving line in this past Sunday's win over the Raiders.

Chargers' Quentin Johnston: Scores TD, otherwise hardly used
Johnston caught all three of his targets for 23 yards and a touchdown in the 31-14 win over the Raiders on Sunday.
Johnston's touchdown came late in the first quarter on a niftily designed short target that required the 2023 first-round pick to nimbly dart around for 10 yards and into the end zone. Week 14 presents an obvious challenge against a gamey Philadelphia defense, and it could become more difficult with the left (non-throwing) hand fracture to quarterback Justin Herbert, which will require surgery. Herbert played through the injury throughout the second half and largely seemed unaffected aside from some cumbersome padding around the injured area, and both the quarterback and head coach Jim Harbaugh think it's possible Herbert will play next week. Still, Johnston has been incredibly volatile in terms of targets in recent weeks, and that probably won't change with a dinged up Herbert and his uncertain status.

Chargers' Quentin Johnston: Held catchless in loss
Johnston failed to catch any of his three targets in a 35-6 drubbing at the hands of the Jaguars on Sunday.
Justin Herbert was pulled early in the second half after the Chargers were manhandled on both sides of the ball. The entirety of the team's passing attack took a hit, but none more so than Johnston, who just garnered 10 targets in Week 10 against the Steelers. It's fair to assume the Chargers will get back on track after their bye against the lowly Raiders in Week 13 , but with difficult matchups against teams like the Eagles and Texans looming after that, as well as divisional clashes with Denver and Kansas City, this might not be the only game that proves to be rough sledding for Johnston.

Chargers' Quentin Johnston: Ready to play Sunday
Johnston (shin) is active for Sunday's game against the Jaguars.
Though Johnston carried a questionable tag into Sunday, he didn't appear to be at any major risk of missing the contest after he was able to turn in a full practice Friday. After he had been limited to between zero and six targets over four straight appearances from Weeks 5 through 9, Johnston saw his involvement in the passing attack pick back up in the Chargers' win over the Steelers this past Sunday, when he finished with five catches for 42 yards on 10 targets. However, due to the presence of fellow wideouts Ladd McConkey and Keenan Allen as well as the emergence of rookie tight end Oronde Gadsden, Johnston's target counts could remain highly volatile from week to week.

Chargers' Quentin Johnston: Seems likely to suit up Sunday
Johnston (shin), who is questionable for Sunday's game against Jacksonville, appears likely to play after practicing fully Friday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Though players who end the week with a full practice session typically end up playing in the subsequent game, Johnston's status won't be officially clarified until the Chargers release their inactive list 90 minutes prior to Sunday's 1 p.m. ET kickoff. If he does suit up, Johnston will likely take on his usual key role in the Chargers' wideout corps alongside Ladd McConkey and Keenan Allen.
