  • Bears' Jaquan Brisker: Expected to contribute in 2025

Bears general manager Ryan Poles said Tuesday he expects Brisker (concussion) to play for Chicago and contribute during the 2025 campaign, Jason Lieser of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Poles said Brisker and offensive lineman Ryan Bates (concussion), both of whom ended the 2024 regular season on IR, are "feeling back to themselves," per Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic. A 2022 second-round pick, Brisker missed 12 games in 2024 due to a concussion. The Bears will undoubtedly prioritize Brisker's health above all other concerns, but it appears the safety is expected to play a role on defense in the 2025 season, in which he'll be playing on the final year of his rookie contract.

  • Bears' Jaquan Brisker: Misses 12 games with concussion

Brisker went on injured reserve after suffering a concussion in Week 5.

Brisker will hopefully regain full health, and if he returns to action in 2025, he'll go into the last year of his rookie contract coming off of a five-game season in which he posted 40 tackles (23 solo), including 1.0 sacks, one interception, an additional pass defensed and a forced fumble.

  • Bears' Jaquan Brisker: Could miss rest of 2024 season

General manager Ryan Poles relayed Sunday that Brisker (concussion) "wasn't making the progress we wanted," which is what caused the Bears to place the third-year safety on injured reserve Saturday, Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com reports.

Prior to being placed on IR, Brisker had already missed the Bears' previous four games due to a concussion he suffered in Week 5 against the Panthers. The 2022 second-round pick has evidently struggled to go through the league's five-step concussion protocols, and even though the earliest he could return from IR would be Week 15 against the Vikings on Monday, Dec. 16, Poles noted that the Bears are, "Going to slow...and allow[ing] [Brisker] to take his time to come back. Would love to see him back this year, but we're just going to take it one week at a time." If he is in fact sidelined for the rest of the 2024 regular season, Brisker will finish with 40 tackles (23 solo), including 1.0 sacks, two pass defenses (including one interception) and one forced fumble across five games.

  • Bears' Jaquan Brisker: Placed on injured reserve

The Bears placed Brisker (concussion) on injured reserve Thursday, Chris Emma of 670TheScore.com reports.

Brisker entered concussion protocols following the Bears' Week 5 win over the Panthers, which has prevented from playing in each of Chicago's last four games. Now that he's been placed on injured reserve, Brisker will be forced to miss at least the next four regular-season games, making Week 15 against the Vikings on Monday, Dec. 16 the earliest he can return. Elijah Hicks will continue to serve as the Bears' starting strong safety alongside free safety Kevin Byard.

  • Bears' Jaquan Brisker: Won't play vs. Packers

Brisker (concussion) won't play in Sunday's game versus Green Bay, Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com reports.

Coach Matt Eberflus said Wednesday that Brisker is "week-to-week" as he continues to progress through concussion protocol. His next chance to play will be in Week 12 versus the Vikings.
