Eagles' Brandon Brooks: Takes pay cut
The Eagles and Brooks (pectoral) agreed Wednesday on a reworked contract Wednesday that reduces his compensation by over $15 million over the final three years of his deal, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
Brooks played just two games in 2021, as he suffered a season-ending pectoral injury in Week 2. His new deal with create over $12 million in cap space for the Eagles in 2022. Assuming he makes a full recovery from the injury, Brooks should slot back into a starting role at right guard next season.

Brandon Brooks: Opts to retire
Brooks (pectoral), who agreed earlier Wednesday to a restructured contract with the Eagles, announced his retirement from the NFL, Zach Berman of The Athletic reports.
The Eagles were likely informed of Brooks' intentions before he restructured the deal. When healthy, the 32-year-old was inarguably one of the top right guards in the NFL during his career, but he sustained four major injuries in the last three years and made just two appearances in 2021 due to a pectoral tear. With Brooks headed for retirement, Philadelphia could rely upon Jack Driscoll (ankle) as a starter during the 2022 campaign. Brooks ends his career with one Super Bowl ring and three Pro Bowl nods.
