Top Scotty Pippen Jr. News

  • Grizzlies' Scotty Pippen: Steps up with game-high 10 assists

Pippen finished Sunday's 132-119 victory over Milwaukee with nine points (4-8 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 1-5 FT), five rebounds, 10 assists, one block and four steals across 23 minutes.

With Ja Morant out with a shoulder injury, Pippen handed out his most assists since dishing out 12 during the Dec. 8 win over Washington. The second-year guard hasn't started a game since Jan. 6 despite Morant's absence, but Pippen has maintained a stable role in Memphis' rotation. That said, Pippen has reached double-digit scoring figures in just one of his last 12 games and doesn't have a clear pathway to consistent fantasy value while Desmond Bane is healthy for the Grizzlies.

  • Grizzlies' Scotty Pippen: Muted scoring in win

Pippen closed with zero points (0-5 FG, 0-1 3Pt), three rebounds, four assists and two steals over 16 minutes during Wednesday's 132-120 victory over the Hornets.

Pippen failed to score in just his second game this season during Wednesday's victory. Since returning to the bench, Pippen has averaged 3.6 points, 3.4 assists, 2.4 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 15.0 minutes across seven appearances.

  • Grizzlies' Scotty Pippen: Retreats to bench Thursday

Pippen will come off the bench in Thursday's game against Houston, Drew Hill of The Daily Memphian reports.

With Ja Morant (shoulder) returning from a five-game absence Thursday, Pippen will slide back to the bench. Over his last 10 outings (six starts), the 24-year-old has averaged 12.9 points, 4.2 assists, 3.2 rebounds and 1.6 steals in 23.8 minutes per contest.

  • Grizzlies' Scotty Pippen: Stuffs stat sheet in win

Pippen logged 18 points (6-13 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 3-4 FT), five boards, five steals, four assists and a block in 28 minutes of action during the 119-104 win over the Grizzlies on Monday.

The third-year guard has excelled as a starter this season, and his performance with the first unit in Monday's contest was no different. He particularly shined on the defensive side of the ball, where he set a career-high mark in steals. Ja Morant (shoulder), Desmond Bane (ankle) and Marcus Smart (finger) have murky return timetables, but so long as they remain sidelined, Pippen should remain firmly in the first unit. His next outing comes Thursday against the Rockets.

  • Grizzlies' Scotty Pippen: Fills box score in loss

Pippen closed Saturday's 121-113 loss to the Warriors with 12 points (4-9 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 1-2 FT), five rebounds, one assist, one block and two steals across 27 minutes.

Pippen offered solid production overall Saturday, filling the box score and hitting double digits in scoring for the seventh time in his last eight appearances for the Grizzlies. The 24-year-old guard should continue running with Memphis' first unit at the one while starting point guard Ja Morant nurses a shoulder injury, putting Pippen in position for enhanced fantasy value in the interim. Through 15 games as a starter in 2024-25, Pippen has averaged 13.7 points, 5.5 assists, 4.1 rebounds, 1.4 steals and 1.4 threes in 26.2 minutes.

  • Grizzlies' Scotty Pippen: Held to two points

Pippen posted two points (0-5 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two rebounds, three assists, two blocks and one steal over 22 minutes during Tuesday's 117-112 victory over the Suns.

Ja Morant is week-to-week with a Grade 1 AC joint sprain in his right shoulder, and Pippen is likely to continue starting in the meantime. His production over his past two starts has left a lot to be desired, however, as he averaged just 6.0 points, 4.5 assists, 2.5 rebounds, 1.0 steals, 1.5 blocks and 0.5 three-pointers.

  • Grizzlies' Scotty Pippen: Starting Sunday vs. OKC

Pippen is in the Grizzlies' starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Thunder, Michael Wallace of the Grizzlies' official site reports.

Pippen will make his 12th start of the regular season Sunday due to Ja Morant being sidelined with a shoulder injury. As a starter, Pippen has averaged 15.0 points, 6.2 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals over 26.9 minutes per contest.

  • Grizzlies' Scotty Pippen: Four steals in win

Pippen finished Thursday's 155-126 victory over Toronto with 15 points (5-12 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 4-5 FT), two rebounds, three assists and four steals in 21 minutes.

Pippen may have had a so-so shooting night, missing seven of the 12 shots he took in the win against the Raptors, but he continues to make an impact defensively, with four steals, which is the second time he's accomplished that feat this season. Pippen averages 1.1 steals per game, with 10.8 points per contest.

  • Grizzlies' Scotty Pippen: Slides to bench Monday

Pippen will come off the bench in Monday's game against the Clippers, Tomer Azarly of ClutchPoints.com reports.

With Ja Morant returning to game action, Pippen will retreat to the bench. The 24-year-old delivered an efficient performance in his spot start in Saturday's win over the Hawks, during which he posted 22 points (9-12 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 1-3 FT), nine assists, five rebounds and two steals across 33 minutes. Pippen should still see significant playing time off the bench, as he has averaged 20.1 minutes per game in the second unit thus far.

  • Grizzlies' Scotty Pippen: Thrives in spot start

Pippen finished with 22 points (9-12 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 1-3 FT), five rebounds, nine assists and two steals over 33 minutes during Saturday's 128-112 win over Atlanta.

Pippen shifted into the starting lineup, replacing Ja Morant who was sidelined due to a back injury. The promotion afforded Pippen significant playing time, during which he delivered his best game in almost a month. Prior to Saturday, Pippen had exceeded 20 minutes only once in the past nine games. If Morant is forced to miss more time, Pippen should continue to see an uptick in minutes and quite possibly, production.

  • Grizzlies' Scotty Pippen: Starting sans Morant

Pippen is in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Hawks.

Pippen is set to make his 11th start of the season in this matchup as injury concerns continue to plague Ja Morant. Pippen is averaging 14.3 points, 5.9 assists, 4.4 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game in his 10 previous starts.

  • Grizzlies' Scotty Pippen: Back to bench role Friday

Pippen is not in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Nets.

Ja Morant is back and starting after a one-game absence, so Pippen will return to his regular second-unit role in this contest. Pippen is averaging 8.3 points, 3.1 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game when coming off the bench this season.

  • Grizzlies' Scotty Pippen: Fills in with double-double

Pippen accumulated 14 points (6-11 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 2-3 FT), three rebounds, 12 assists and two steals in 22 minutes during Sunday's 140-112 win over the Wizards.

Pippen showed Memphis' depth on a night where both teams were depleted with injuries. Thanks to Pippen, the Grizzlies have gone 7-4 without Ja Morant's (back) services, as the Vanderbilt product has performed admirably during the superstar's absences. Despite his success as a fill-in, Pippen's numbers don't merit fantasy consideration, barring a significant absence from Morant.

  • Grizzlies' Scotty Pippen: Starting Sunday

Pippen will enter the starting lineup in Sunday's game against the Wizards.

With Ja Morant (back) and Desmond Bane (toe) sidelined, Pippen will get the starting nod. In nine starts this season, the 24-year-old has averaged 14.3 points, 5.2 assists, 4.6 rebounds and 1.3 steals across 26.9 minutes per contest.
