Swider will join the 15-man roster as a replacement for center Colin Castleton, who wasn't retained after his second 10-day deal expired Tuesday. Castleton had averaged 25.8 minutes per game over Toronto's last 10 games, and Swider could be a prime candidate to absorb a good chunk of that playing time. The Raptors have already ruled out two starters in Jakob Poeltl (rest) and Immanuel Quickley (rest) for Wednesday's game in Brooklyn, likely leaving Swider, Orlando Robinson, Jonathan Mogbo and Scottie Barnes in line to cover the minutes between power forward and center. Swider previously made two appearances at the NBA level earlier this season while he was signed to a two-way deal with the Pistons, but he's seen the bulk of his action in the G League in 2024-25, appearing in 31 contest between the Motor City Cruise and South Bay Lakers while averaging 21.0 points, 5.7 rebounds, 4.4 three-pointers, 2.0 assists and 1.1 steals in 34.7 minutes per contest. He's been one of the top shooters in the G League this season, converting at a 44.3 percent clip from downtown and a 95.2 percent clip from the free-throw line.

After the Pacers waived him from his Exhibit 10 deal Friday, Swider quickly caught on with Detroit and will fill one of the team's three two-way slots heading into the regular season. He spent the 2023-24 season as a two-way player for the Heat and appeared in just 18 games at the NBA level, but he was a standout performer in the G League. Over his 21 appearances with the Sioux Falls Skyforce, the big man averaged 24.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.7 three-pointers, 2.9 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.4 blocks in 38.3 minutes.

Swider spent training camp and the preseason with Indiana on an Exhibit 9 contract but was unable to secure a roster spot. He'll have the opportunity to pursue work elsewhere, but the Pacers will retain his G League rights.
The Pacers signed Swider to a one-year, non-guaranteed deal Saturday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
Swider was impressive with the Heat's Summer League team this offseason, during which he averaged 13.5 points while shooting 49.1 percent from beyond the arc. The 25-year-old will now have the opportunity to compete for a roster spot in training camp with the Pacers after he averaged 2.3 points across 4.8 minutes in 18 regular-season games with the Heat last season.
