Hornets' Dalton Knecht: Iffy to make Hornets' debut Sunday
Knecht (recently traded) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Pistons.
Knecht was traded by the Lakers to the Hornets on Thursday in exchange for Mark Williams. Knecht didn't take the court against the Spurs on Friday, and he won't be able to play Sunday until the trade is finalized. The rookie first-round pick averaged 9.3 points on 50.8 percent shooting (including 43.9 percent from three on 4.1 3PA/G) and 2.4 rebounds over 17.6 minutes per game across his last 10 outings with the Lakers prior to being traded.

Hornets' Dalton Knecht: Won't make Hornets debut Friday
Knecht (recently traded) has been ruled out for Friday's game against the Spurs, Roderick Boone of The Charlotte Observer reports.
Knecht was traded by the Lakers to the Hornets along with Cam Reddish (personal), a 2031 unprotected first-round pick and a 2030 pick-swap in exchange for center Mark Williams. Knecht won't debut for Charlotte on Friday, but he'll likely be available to play against Detroit on Sunday. Prior to the trade, Knecht had averaged 8.3 points and 2.2 rebounds over 16.8 minutes per game since the beginning of January.

Hornets' Dalton Knecht: Iffy to debut Friday
Knecht (recently traded) is listed as questionable for Friday's game against the Spurs.
The rookie first-rounder was recently acquired by the Hornets in a trade that sent Mark Williams to the Lakers, and Knecht is questionable to make his debut with the club Friday. The 23-year-old appeared in 48 regular-season outings (12 starts) before the trade, averaging 9.4 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.6 three-pointers across 20.7 minutes per contest. Knecht will likely be able to step into a more sizable role with Charlotte, as the club is dealing with injuries to several key contributors.

Hornets' Dalton Knecht: Shipped to Charlotte
The Hornets acquired Knecht, forward Cam Reddish (personal), a 2031 unprotected first-round pick and a 2030 first-round pick swap from the Lakers on Wednesday in exchange for center Mark Williams, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.
Knecht, the 17th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, averaged 9.4 points and 3.1 rebounds across 20.7 points per game over his 48 appearances with the Lakers. In the aftermath of the Lakers' recent acquisition of Luka Doncic, the team had a need for interior defense and frontcourt help, leaving the rookie perimeter player expendable. With Charlotte depleted by injuries, expect Knecht to immediately step into a sizable role for a rebuilding club. Nick Smith and Josh Green would appear to represent Knecht's primary competition for playing time on the wing.

Lakers' Dalton Knecht: Tossed vs. Washington
Knecht was ejected from Thursday's game against the Wizards after being issued two technical fouls, Dan Woike of the Los Angeles Times reports. He recorded 10 points (3-9 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT) and one rebound in 22 minutes before exiting.
Knecht was tossed from the game with a few minutes remaining in the fourth quarter after arguing with an official. His departure had no impact on the result of the matchup, as the Lakers jumped out to a huge lead and were in command well before the final period.

Lakers' Dalton Knecht: Drops 24 off bench Tuesday
Knecht notched 24 points (8-13 FG, 5-8 3Pt, 3-3 FT) and five rebounds across 23 minutes off the bench during Tuesday's 118-104 loss to the 76ers.
The rookie wing put together his best scoring effort since he erupted for 37 points against the Jazz on Nov. 19. Knecht has had an erratic January, scoring six points or less in seven of 13 games, but he may be working his way back into a more consistent role on the Lakers' second unit, as he's played more than 20 minutes in three straight games.

Knecht registered two points (1-3 FG, 0-1 3Pt), two rebounds and one steal in 21 minutes during Monday's 112-107 victory over Charlotte.
The Lakers were without Rui Hachimura (calf) and Gabe Vincent (knee), but Knecht wasn't able to take advantage of his opportunity. He's had a tough month overall, posting averages of 6.8 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.2 three-pointers on 42.2 percent shooting across 12 January appearances.

Lakers' Dalton Knecht: Sees just eight minutes
Knecht ended Tuesday's 111-88 win over the Wizards with three points (1-4 FG, 1-2 3Pt) and two rebounds in eight minutes.
Knecht's fantasy arrow continues to point down, with this being his lowest workload since Dec. 21. The Lakers will be getting Jarred Vanderbilt (foot) back on Saturday versus Golden State, making this rotation even harder to crack.

Lakers' Dalton Knecht: Shooting struggles continue
Knecht accumulated six points (2-6 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT) and one rebound across 17 minutes during Thursday's 114-106 win over the Trail Blazers.
Knecht was once considered a contender for NBA Rookie of the Year, but he's been on the decline lately. The first-round pick has shot 23.9 percent from beyond the arc over the last 16 games, which has hurt his chances of being a dependable shooter and scorer off the bench for coach JJ Redick, who used to rave about the rookie standout.

Lakers' Dalton Knecht: Rookie gets back on track
Knecht chipped in 13 points (5-9 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT), seven rebounds, two assists and one block in 25 minutes during Wednesday's 115-113 win over Golden State.
Following the ankle injury suffered by Anthony Davis, Knecht saw more time on the floor on Christmas Day against the Warriors. The rookie forward was highly productive in 25 minutes and might get more minutes if Davis misses time, especially with the Lakers already without Christian Wood (knee) and Jarred Vanderbilt (foot).

Lakers' Dalton Knecht: Heading to bench Friday
Knecht is not in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Timberwolves, Ryan Ward of LakersNation.com reports.
The Lakers will tweak their lineup with the return of Austin Reaves, and the rookie will head to the bench, as his elite shooting ability can be an asset in the second unit. Knecht is averaging 7.8 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game off the bench this season.

Lakers' Dalton Knecht: Struggles with shot
Knecht logged six points (3-9 FG, 0-3 3Pt), eight rebounds, one assist and one steal across 22 minutes during Sunday's 107-98 victory over Portland.
With LeBron James (foot) missing his first game of the season, Knecht will be disappointed that he couldn't take advantage of the extra usage. Knecht has lost a lot of steam to open December, averaging 6.8 points on 35.7 percent shooting over his last five outings.
