Johnston entered Saturday's game having collected only two hits across his last 17 at-bats, while also striking out at a 30 percent clip. He turned things around against the Dodgers, delivering a two-RBI double in the sixth inning to put Colorado ahead for good. Rockies' Victor Vodnik: Holds on for third save

Vodnik picked up the save Saturday against the Dodgers, giving up no runs on two hits and no walks in the ninth inning.
Vodnik did make things interesting, allowing the possible tying and go-ahead run to reach base, but he got Kyle Tucker to fly out to wrap up an upset victory. The last-time Rockies figure to be near the bottom of the standings in 2026, but Vodnik appears to be the club's clear-cut closer at this time. Through nine frames, the right-hander has a 2.00 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and 5:4 K:BB while converting three of his four save opportunities.
Feltner took a no-decision Saturday against the Dodgers, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits and one walk in 5.2 innings. He struck out five.
Considering the daunting task at hitter-friendly Coors Field, Feltner certainly held his own versus a vaunted Dodgers lineup. Despite giving up three extra-base hits (two home runs), the right-hander worked his longest outing of the campaign so far and fanned a season-high five. Despite the positive showing Saturday, Feltner still doesn't shape up as a recommended fantasy option in his next scheduled start at home versus the Padres while carrying a 6.00 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 14:7 K:BB over 18 frames.

Rockies' Willi Castro: Sitting third straight

Castro (hand) isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Dodgers.
Castro has been held out of action since he was hit on the hand by a pitch during Wednesday's contest. A move to the injured list doesn't seem to be imminent, but it could come into consideration if the 28-year-old isn't cleared to return soon. Edouard Julien will man second base Saturday.
Criswell (elbow) will face live hitters over the weekend and begin a rehab assignment shortly thereafter, MLB.com reports.
Criswell is recovering from Tommy John surgery and missed the entire 2025 season. Assuming the final steps in his recovery go as planned, Criswell is expected to be activated in late April or early May.

Rockies' Tomoyuki Sugano: Surrenders five runs in loss

Sugano (1-1) took the loss Friday against the Dodgers, allowing five runs on nine hits and two walks with three strikeouts across four innings.
Sugano entered Friday with a 2.16 ERA across his first three starts with the Rockies, but the Dodgers' potent offense was able to tag him early and often in this one. Los Angeles scored in all four innings Sugano pitched Friday. Max Muncy's solo shot in the second was the fifth homer Sugano has surrendered this season, and three of those have come away from Coors Field. Sugano's numbers are still overstating his case, as his 5.39 FIP coming into Friday suggested some regression was coming for the right-hander. Sugano now owns a 3.92 ERA and 15:5 K:BB across 20.2 innings. He's slated to face the Padres at Coors next week.
Goodman is absent from the lineup for Friday's contest against the Dodgers.
Goodman started each of the final five games during the Rockies' road trip, so he will receive some well-earned rest as the team returns to Coors Field to begin a homestand. Brett Sullivan will do the catching and bat sixth for Colorado.

Hill recorded a hold Thursday, pitching a scoreless inning and allowing one hit and two walks with a strikeout in a 3-2 win over the Astros.
Hill was a steady presence for the Rockies last season after getting called up in late July. The right-hander has already appeared in nine games this season in a higher-leverage role and has only given up one run, way back in his first appearance March 28. He has issued at least one walk in four of his nine outings, however, producing a 7:5 K:BB in 7.2 innings.
Rockies' Tyler Freeman: Records three hits Thursday

The performance snapped a 0-for-9 stretch for Freeman over his previous three games. While he remains a part-time option in the Rockies' outfield, he's seeing the ball well. In 34 plate appearances since the beginning of April, Freeman is hitting .300 with a .682 OPS.

Goodman blasted his fifth homer of the season in the top of the fourth inning with a 397-foot blast to left center. The 2025 Silver Slugger is hitting just .217 in 53 plate appearances since the beginning of April but with an .821 OPS, four homers, six RBI, nine runs scored and a stolen base.

Working as the opener ahead of Chase Dollander, Mejia couldn't even get out of the first inning after allowing RBI singles to Yordan Alvarez and Joey Loperfido. Mejia opened April with three consecutive scoreless outings, but the wheels have fallen off lately as he's allowed five runs across 2.0 innings over his last three appearances. On the season, Mejia's ERA has ballooned to 7.00 with a 2.00 WHIP over eight appearances and nine innings.

Dollander (2-1) earned the win in relief Thursday against the Astros after tossing 5.1 scoreless innings, allowing one hit and two walks while striking out nine.
Dollander pitched behind opener Juan Mejia, who allowed two runs on three hits across two-thirds of an inning, and he looked dominant in the bulk-relief appearance. The nine punchouts were a season high for Dollander, who hadn't struck out more than six in any of his previous three multi-inning appearances. Through five outings in 2026, Dollander owns an impressive 23:6 K:BB, as well as a 3.32 ERA and 1.11 WHIP, in 19 innings.

Rockies' Victor Vodnik: Nabs second save of season

Vodnik secured his second save of the season Thursday, pitching a scoreless ninth inning against the Astros and allowing one walk with zero hits or strikeouts.
The right-hander has converted his last two save chances, but perhaps more importantly, he's now on a roll of six straight outings in which he hasn't allowed an earned run. Vodnik isn't overpowering hitters, as he owns a 4:4 K:BB in 7.0 innings during his scoreless streak, but he's getting the job done. Should he stumble in the closing role, Jimmy Herget or Jaden Hill could be the next men up in the ninth inning.
