  • White Sox's Edgar Quero: Out of Wednesday's lineup

Quero is not in the lineup for Wednesday's contest versus the Rays.

Quero started at catcher in each of the last two games but will get a breather Wednesday. Reese McGuire is handling the catching duties and batting eighth for the White Sox.

  • White Sox's Sam Antonacci: Starting at second base in debut

Antonacci will start at second base and bat fifth Wednesday versus the Rays in his major-league debut.

After Antonacci received the call to the big leagues earlier Wednesday, manager Will Venable said that the 23-year-old will mostly play left field for the White Sox, Bruce Levine of 670TheScore.com reports. However, Antonacci will be making his debut at second base Wednesday while Chase Meidroth gets a day off. Antonacci slashed .313/.500/.479 at Charlotte to earn the promotion.

  • White Sox's Chase Meidroth: Taking seat Wednesday

Meidroth is not in the lineup for Wednesday's tilt against the Rays.

Meidroth is just 2-for-22 at the plate over his last six games, so he'll get a day to regroup. Sam Antonacci is starting at second base and batting fifth for the White Sox in his major-league debut.

  • White Sox's Brandon Eisert: Sent back to minors

The White Sox optioned Eisert to Triple-A Charlotte on Wednesday.

Eisert spent less than a week with the big club and gave up four runs on six hits with a 2:1 K:BB in 2.1 innings. His roster spot will be taken by fellow lefty Tyler Gilbert, who will offer more length in the bullpen.

  • White Sox's Tyler Gilbert: Making return to Chicago

The White Sox recalled Gilbert from Triple-A Charlotte on Wednesday.

Chicago will swap a pair of left-handed relievers on the active roster, as Gilbert comes up from Charlotte to replace Brandon Eisert, who was demoted to Triple-A. In addition to giving the White Sox another southpaw in the bullpen, Gilbert is capable of covering multiple innings when needed to mop up.

  • White Sox's Dustin Harris: Booted from 40-man roster

The White Sox designated Harris for assignment Wednesday.

Harris will cede his spot on the 40-man roster and 26-man active roster to one of the organization's top prospects in Sam Antonacci, who received a call-up from Triple-A Charlotte. After receiving a promotion of his own from Charlotte on April 7, Harris proceeded to go 3-for-12 with a double, two stolen bases and a 4:1 BB:K in six games for the White Sox. He'll now go through the waiver process and will have the ability to elect free agency if he goes unclaimed.

  • White Sox's Sam Antonacci: Receives call to majors

The White Sox selected Antonacci's contract from Triple-A Charlotte on Wednesday.

The White Sox had sent some mixed signals over the weekend regarding whether or not Antonacci would be in line for a promotion to the majors, but after further deliberation, the organization has elected to move the 23-year-old up to the big-league squad. Antonacci forced the White Sox's hand after a red-hot start to the season at Triple-A Charlotte, with whom he produced a .313/.500/.479 slash line, two home runs and five stolen bases while striking out in just 11.9 percent of his 67 plate appearances. Though Antonacci should get the chance to play regularly against right-handed pitching, it's unclear if he'll have a home at any one position or fill more of a super-utility role. He's seen the bulk of his starts in left field this season but has also received reps at all four infield spots since entering the professional ranks in 2024.

  • White Sox's Munetaka Murakami: Launches late home run

Murakami went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer, two walks and an additional run scored during the White Sox's 8-5 loss to the Rays on Tuesday.

The Rays held a comfortable 8-3 lead in the ninth inning, but Murakami made the score more respectable after smacking a two-run homer off Yoendrys Gomez. It was Murakami's first home run since April 4 and fifth of the year, which leads the White Sox and is tied for fourth most in the American League. He has demonstrated power early on in his first major-league season but has just a .167 batting average on 70 plate appearances and a 33.8 percent strikeout rate, and his 39.2 percent whiff rate is one of the worst in MLB.

  • White Sox's Everson Pereira: Smacks three-run homer in return

Pereira went 1-for-4 with a three-run homer and two strikeouts during the White Sox's 8-5 loss to the Rays on Tuesday.

Pereira was activated from the 10-day injured list prior to Tuesday's game after recovering from an ankle sprain. He struck out in his first at-bat in the first, but he emphatically put the White Sox on the board in the third, when he took the first pitch he saw from Shane McClanahan deep to left-center field for a three-run shot. Pereira saw regular playing time in the outfield prior to his stint on the injured list and should continue to do so, at least for as long as Austin Hays (hamstring) is on the 10-day IL.

  • White Sox's Noah Schultz: Takes loss in major-league debut

Schultz (0-1) took the loss against Tampa Bay on Tuesday, allowing four runs (three earned) on three hits and four walks while striking out four across 4.1 innings.

The 22-year-old Schultz dominated across three outings (two starts) with Triple-A Charlotte, prompting the White Sox to call him up Tuesday for his major-league debut. The nerves appeared to get to the young southpaw early, as he gave up three runs (two earned) in the first inning before yielding another run in the fourth, though he managed to retire five of the last six batters he faced. It wasn't the major-league debut Schultz was hoping for, but he should see a few more turns in the rotation, at least until Jonathan Cannon (hip) is cleared to return from the 15-day injured list. Schultz is lined up to start against the Athletics this weekend.

  • White Sox's Kyle Teel: Nearing rehab assignment

General Manager Chris Getz revealed that Teel (hamstring) will begin an injury rehab assignment within a week of Tuesday, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.

An exact date for when Teel's rehab assignment will begin has not been given as of Tuesday. The catcher began tee work around April 7 and is trying to return by the end of April.

  • White Sox's Grant Taylor: Will not be used as starter in 2026

White Sox general manager Chris Getz said Tuesday that he does not anticipate Taylor being used as a starting pitcher this season, Bruce Levine of 670TheScore.com reports.

Director of pitching Brian Bannister said earlier Tuesday during an appearance on the Mully & Haugh Show that Taylor could continue to be stretched out if he is used more as an opener. However, Getz offered more clarity in reiterating that Taylor will not be used in the rotation this season. The goal is for the righty to stretch out to around 100 innings in 2026 before transitioning back to a starting pitcher role in 2027. Taylor has been lights out in a bullpen role so far this season, posting a 1.08 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 10:2 K:BB in 8.1 innings.

  • White Sox's Everson Pereira: Back from IL

The White Sox reinstated Pereira (ankle) from the 10-day injured list Tuesday.

The 25-year-old outfielder landed on the shelf in early April due to an ankle sprain, but he's ready to rejoin the White Sox after going 1-for-4 with a walk and a solo homer during his lone rehab game with Triple-A Charlotte. Pereira had a solid start to the campaign, going 4-for-16 with a homer and a double through five games, and should reclaim his role in the short side of an outfield platoon. He's batting cleanup and starting in right field Tuesday against Tampa Bay southpaw Shane McClanahan.

  • White Sox's Jonathan Cannon: Goes to IL with hip inflammation

The White Sox placed Cannon of the 15-day injured list Tuesday with right hip inflammation.

Cannon had to be pulled from Sunday's start against the Royals due to the injury in what was his first outing of the season in the majors. The injury should heal with rest, but it's unclear when Cannon might be game-ready again, and it's not a given that he'll rejoin the big-league rotation when he's physically ready.

  • White Sox's Noah Schultz: Called up ahead of debut

The White Sox selected Schultz's contract from Triple-A Charlotte on Tuesday.

Schultz is set to make his major-league debut with a start Tuesday against the Rays. The 6-foot-10 left-hander earned a promotion after a dominant start to the season with Charlotte, as he posted a 19:2 K:BB over 14 innings to go along with a 1.29 ERA. Control and injuries have been a problem at times for Schultz, but he has some of the best upside of any starting pitching prospect in baseball. He'll get an opportunity to stick around with the big club if he pitches well.

  • White Sox's Grant Taylor: Slowly stretching out

White Sox director of pitching Brian Bannister said Tuesday during an appearance on the Mully & Haugh Show that Taylor will continue to get more stretched out with each appearance if he continues to be deployed as an opener.

Taylor has started in four of his last five outings, working 1.1 innings Thursday and two innings Sunday after logging exactly one inning in his first five appearances. The 27 pitches he tossed Sunday are the most he's thrown this season, so he's still not close to being built up enough to go five-plus innings. That said, it's easy to get excited about Taylor's potential if he ends up being used like a true starting pitcher. Taylor has a 1.08 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 10:2 K:BB in 8.1 innings this season.

  • White Sox's Tanner McDougal: Cuts walks in latest start

McDougal has a 2.40 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 19:9 K:BB in 15 innings through three starts for Triple-A Charlotte.

The 23-year-old McDougal is making his Triple-A debut this year, and after walking four batters in each of his first two starts, he struck out eight while walking just one over six innings in his most recent start against Memphis. The hard-throwing righty could get the call to the majors in the coming weeks if he keeps the walks in check.

  • White Sox's Hagen Smith: Missing bats at Triple-A

Smith has a 2.00 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 14:3 K:BB in nine innings for Triple-A Charlotte.

Noah Schultz already earned a promotion from Triple-A, but the White Sox still have Smith and Tanner McDougal making waves in the Knights' rotation, so the pipeline of impact arms to the big-league rotation should continue in the coming weeks. Despite his success, Smith has thrown just three innings in each Triple-A start, so he would presumably start to ramp up to five-plus innings before earning the call to the show.
