  • White Sox's Korey Lee: Sent to Triple-A

The White Sox optioned Lee to Triple-A Charlotte on Friday. The 26-year-old will lose his place on the MLB roster Friday with prospect Kyle Teel being called up for his first taste of the majors. Lee was reinstated from the injured list last week after going down with an ankle injury in early April, and he'll head to the minors with a .250/.300/.357 slash line in 31 big-league plate appearances this season.

  • White Sox's Korey Lee: Activated ahead of Tuesday's game

Lee (ankle) was activated from the 10-day injured list prior to Tuesday's game against the Mets. Backup catcher Matt Thaiss was traded to the Rays for a low-level prospect (Dru Baker) Tuesday in advance of Lee's activation. Edgar Quero should continue to play more than Lee, although Quero could start getting another start or two at designated hitter each week to provide Lee with more opportunities. Lee hit .333 with a .417 BABIP and zero home runs in 17 plate appearances before landing on the shelf. He hit .302 with two home runs in 11 rehab games.

  • White Sox's Korey Lee: Starting rehab assignment

Lee (ankle) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Charlotte on Friday, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports. Lee has missed the last month of action with a left ankle sprain but is ready to test things out in a game setting. With Edgar Quero now with the big club, Lee is not guaranteed to be added to the major-league roster once he's deemed physically ready.

  • White Sox's Korey Lee: Swelling going down

Manager Will Venable said Tuesday that the swelling in Lee's ankle is nearly entirely gone, MLB.com reports. Lee has been on the injured list since April 10 due to a left ankle sprain. It's unclear what the next steps in his recovery will be, or how quickly he can return. Lee was already stuck in a backup role prior to Edgar Quero's promotion, so his spot on the big-league roster could be in jeopardy once healthy.

  • White Sox's Korey Lee: Lands on IL with ankle sprain

The White Sox placed Lee on the 10-day injured list Thursday due to a left ankle sprain. Lee sustained the injury in the sixth inning of Wednesday's 3-2 loss to the Guardians. The severity of the ankle sprain isn't known, but since it's considered more than a day-to-day concern, Lee was deactivated and replaced on the 26-man active roster by veteran backstop Omar Narvaez, whose contract was purchased from Double-A Birmingham. Matt Thaiss should still see the majority of the starts behind the plate while Lee is on the shelf.

  • White Sox's Korey Lee: IL stint expected

Lee will likely spend time on the injured list after rolling his left ankle during Wednesday's game against Cleveland, James Fegan of SoxMachine.com reports. Lee stepped on Carlos Santana's foot while trying to make it back to first base on a pickoff attempt in the sixth inning of Wednesday's contest. No official move has been made yet, but Omar Narvaez's removal from his game at Double-A Birmingham could suggest that he's on his way to join the White Sox as Lee's injury replacement.

  • White Sox's Korey Lee: Sitting against righty again

Lee is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Angels. Lee drew the start behind the plate Opening Day while the Angels sent lefty Yusei Kikuchi to the bump, but the catcher will now hit the bench for the second game in a row. The Angels have deployed right-handed starters Saturday and Sunday, so Lee may be on the short side of a platoon at catcher with Matt Thaiss, who draws a second straight start.

  • White Sox's Korey Lee: Impressive in spring

Lee has gone 10-for-25 with four extra-base hits in Cactus League games. Lee has a 49 wRC+ across 490 big-league plate appearances, so success across a small sample in relatively meaningless games isn't all that reassuring. However, he appears likely to enter the regular season as Chicago's primary catcher and his performance this spring could buy him some additional time over top prospects Kyle Teel and Edgar Quero.

  • White Sox's Korey Lee: Has bruised hand

Lee was removed from Wednesday's Cactus League game against the Brewers due to a bruised right hand. X-rays on Lee's hand came back negative after the game, and he is officially considered day-to-day. The 26-year-old backstop suffered the injury during the third inning of Wednesday's contest while attempting to throw to third base to catch a stealing Sal Frelick. The White Sox may give Lee a day or two off to recover, which will open up more reps behind the plate for prospect Edgar Quero.

For the year, he's slashing .207/.238/.341 with 11 homers, 33 RBI, five steals and a 15:121 BB:K in 382 plate appearances.

Lee isn't in the White Sox's lineup for Saturday's game against the Padres. Lee's 2-for-4 performance in Friday's contest broke an 0-for-18 stretch at the plate, and he'll now get a chance to rest Saturday while Chuckie Robinson catches for Chris Flexen.
