  • Twins' Byron Buxton: Back in lineup Tuesday

Buxton (elbow) will start in center field and bat leadoff in Tuesday's game against the Reds. Buxton was a late scratch from Sunday's lineup versus the Astros due to lingering soreness in his left elbow as a result of a hit-by-pitch Saturday. However, he had an extra day of rest with the Twins being idle Monday and is ready to roll for Tuesday's series opener.

  • Twins' Byron Buxton: Late scratch Sunday

Buxton (elbow) was scratched from the lineup for Sunday's game against the Astros. The 31-year-old exited Saturday's contest after being hit by a pitch in the left elbow, and he won't start Sunday after initially being penciled in atop the lineup. The Twins have a scheduled day off Monday, so Buxton will have two straight days to recover before Tuesday's series opener in Cincinnati.

  • Twins' Byron Buxton: Cleared to start in series finale

Buxton (elbow) will start in center field and bat leadoff in Sunday's game against the Astros. Buxton was hit in the left elbow by a pitch in the top of the sixth inning of Saturday's loss, but he initially stayed in the game before exiting in the bottom of the seventh. Fortunately for the center fielder, he escaped with little more than a bruise on his elbow, and he's feeling well enough a day later to start. Buxton has gotten off to an excellent start to June, slashing .306/.435/.472 with one home run, three stolen bases, 11 RBI, three runs and an 8:7 BB:K over 11 games.

  • Twins' Byron Buxton: Considered day-to-day

Buxton is considered day-to-day after being hit by a pitch on the elbow Saturday against the Astros, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. The injury was labeled a contusion, implying the issue wasn't serious. While the Twins don't seem to have much long-term concern about Buxton, it wouldn't be surprising if he was held out of the lineup Sunday as a precaution.

  • Twins' Byron Buxton: Exits after HBP

Buxton was removed from Saturday's game against Houston after getting hit on the elbow by a pitch, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. Buxton initially remained in the game after taking a 95-mph sinker off his left elbow in the sixth inning, but he was eventually pulled during the seventh frame. The Twins have officially labeled his injury as a contusion, per Helfand, so it doesn't seem like the incident caused Buxton any significant harm.

  • Twins' Byron Buxton: Stars in victory Wednesday

Buxton went 3-for-3 with a three-run home run, a double, a walk and a stolen base in Wednesday's 6-2 win against the Rangers. The Rangers couldn't get Buxton out in the contest, as the veteran outfielder reached base in all four trips to the plate. His biggest hit was a massive 479-foot, three-run blast to center field in the third inning that gave the Twins their first lead. In addition to the power display, Buxton also swiped his 11th bag of the campaign. With 11 home runs and 11 steals on the season, Buxton is one of 15 major-leaguers who have reached double figures in both categories so far.

  • Twins' Byron Buxton: Absent from lineup

Buxton is not in the Twins' starting lineup against the Blue Jays on Saturday. Buxton will take a seat after going 0-for-9 with three walks and two strikeouts over his last three games. Willi Castro, Harrison Bader and Trevor Larnach will man the outfield for Minnesota.

  • Twins' Byron Buxton: Racks up five RBI in victory

Buxton went 2-for-5 with a double, a run, five RBI and a stolen base in a 10-4 win against the Athletics on Monday. Buxton plated two runs with a double in the second inning, added a two-run single in the sixth and finished his big day with a sacrifice fly in the ninth. The five RBI marked a season high for the veteran outfielder, who has now driven in at least one run in each of his three games since returning from a stay on the 7-day injured list May 30. Buxton's steal Monday was his 10th of the campaign, making him the 12th big-leaguer to reach 10 homers and 10 thefts so far this season.

  • Twins' Byron Buxton: Resting Sunday

Buxton is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mariners. After returning from the 7-day injured list Friday, Buxton started in center field in both of the first two games of the series and exhibited no hangover effect from his recent concussion, as he went 4-for-12 with three RBI, three runs and a stolen base between those contests. He'll take a seat Sunday in what looks to be little more than a pre-planned recovery day coming off the concussion. Harrison Bader will cover center field in Buxton's stead.

  • Twins' Byron Buxton: Swipes bag Friday

Buxton went 2-for-6 with two RBI, a stolen base and two runs scored in Friday's 12-6 extra-inning win over the Mariners. Buxton returned from a stint on the 7-day concussion injured list, and he was able to put together a multi-hit effort for the first time since May 9 versus the Giants. The outfielder had gone 2-for-17 with nine strikeouts prior to his absence. Overall, he's had a productive start to 2025, batting .264 with an .828 OPS, 10 home runs, nine steals, 29 RBI, 35 runs scored, five doubles and three triples across 42 contests. He should resume his role as the Twins' primary center fielder.

  • Twins' Byron Buxton: Activated Friday, as expected

The Twins reinstated Buxton (concussion) from the 7-day injured list, and he is starting in center field and batting in the leadoff spot against the Mariners on Friday. The 31-year-old missed two weeks after sustaining a concussion on a collision with Carlos Correa on May 15, but he's ready to rejoin the active roster after getting in some full workouts this week. Buxton was raking in May prior to the concussion with four homers and a .313/.393/.625 slash line in 13 games.

  • Twins' Byron Buxton: Expected to return Friday

Buxton (concussion) is expected to be activated from the 7-day injured list before Friday's game at Seattle, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. Buxton worked out for a second consecutive day before Wednesday's game and took batting practice. The 31-year-old has been in the concussion protocol since his collision with Carlos Correa on May 15.

  • Twins' Byron Buxton: Works out before game

Buxton (concussion) participated in outfield drills and ran the bases before Monday's game in Tampa, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. However, he was not activated from the 7-day injured list. The 31-year-old has been in the concussion protocol since his collision with Carlos Correa on May 15. His travel with the team for a 10-game road trip suggests he could be activated from the 7-day IL imminently.

  • Twins' Byron Buxton: Traveling for road trip

Buxton remains in the concussion protocol but will travel with the Twins for their 10-game road trip that begins Monday in Kansas City, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports. The 31-year-old has been in the concussion protocol since his collision with Carlos Correa on May 15, but the outfielder has been ramping up his baseball activities over the past few days. Buxton still needs to officially clear the protocol before being reinstated from the 7-day IL, but the fact he'll be traveling with the team could indicate his activation is on the horizon.

  • Twins' Byron Buxton: Ramping up activity

Buxton (concussion) has begun ramping up his baseball activities and is back to running on solid ground rather than in a pool or on a treadmill, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports. Buxton and teammate Carlos Correa both landed on the 7-day concussion IL after colliding during a game last week, and while Correa was reinstated from the injured list Friday, Buxton's recovery hasn't been as quick. He remains without a return timeline but appears to be trending in the right direction.

  • Twins' Byron Buxton: Still experiencing symptoms

Twins athletic trainer Nick Paparesta said Wednesday that Buxton is considered further behind in his recovery than Carlos Correa as both players recover from concussions, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports. Buxton and Correa were placed on the 7-day injured list after the two were involved in an on-field collision in a May 15 game. The Twins haven't offered up a timeline for either player's return from the IL, but Correa is apparently trending toward being activated sooner than Buxton.

  • Twins' Byron Buxton: Placed on concussion IL

The Twins placed Buxton on the 7-day concussion injured list Saturday. It had previously been reported that Buxton cleared concussion protocol after bumping heads with Carlos Correa (concussion) on Thursday, but that has turned out not to be the case. Buxton's move is retroactive to Friday, so he'll be required to miss only six more days before being eligible for activation, and the Twins will make a corresponding move to fill his roster spot Sunday.

  • Twins' Byron Buxton: Remains out Saturday

Buxton (head) is not in the lineup for Saturday's game versus Milwaukee. Buxton will begin on the bench for a second straight game following Thursday's collision with Carlos Correa. While Correa was diagnosed with a concussion, Buxton has cleared concussion protocol, though it's not clear if he could be used off the bench. With Buxton out of the lineup Saturday, DaShawn Keirsey is getting a second consecutive start in center field.

  • Twins' Byron Buxton: Clears concussion protocol

Buxton cleared concussion protocol Friday and is considered day-to-day, Audra Martin of FanDuel Sports Network North reports. Buxton will not require a trip to the 7-day concussion IL after colliding with Carlos Correa during Thursday's contest, though the same cannot be said for the latter. Buxton will sit down for Friday's series opener against Milwaukee but could return sometime later this weekend.

  • Twins' Byron Buxton: Not in Friday's lineup

Buxton (head) is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Brewers. The 31-year-old entered the concussion protocol after a collision with Carlos Correa (head) during Thursday's matchup with Baltimore, and both players are absent from the starting nine Friday. If diagnosed with a concussion, Buxton is likely to be placed on the 7-day injured list, but for now he should be considered day-to-day.
